@Dippy, how much if you don't mind me asking and stats? I have no idea how much Penn gives out.

I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to ask. I picked Carlisle mostly because the estimated COA is slightly lower.

the email & status checker must have gotten sent/changed within 15 minutes of eachother. I check all my SC's at like 11am, and my email at 1130. @ 1130, I had the IN email and my checker had been updated.

it was magical.

Applicants/Admitted Students can switch campuses up until the week of orientation provided there is space available at their location of choice. So far, we've never had to deny a student their choice of campus. Once a student begins their first year at either campus they will be assigned to that campus for the year. After the first year students can attend classes at whichever campus works for them. Many of the upper level classes are taught using our state of the art teleconferencing technology, including HD cameras in nearly every classroom large or small. This broadens the availability of course selection without requiring a student to be in a particular location.

Both campuses are beautiful with amazing new facilities. Even though for COA purposes the Carlisle campus seems cheaper many of the costs quantified for our published COA will vary depending on lifestyle choices you'll make as a student. I wouldn't necessarily pick a campus based on those estimates. Instead I'd explore both campuses. I've heard all sorts of reasons for why students have selected one campus or the other. I'm happy to put someone who is really struggling with the question in touch with current students from both campuses who are in a position to discuss their choices.

There are a wider selection of joint degree offerings in UP and most of the international students choose UP. Still the students in Carlisle have always been as academically gifted as the UP students and have great loyalty to their location and the school. You'll receive the same rigorous educational experience at either location. About 2/3 of our entering class since the UP facility has opened have chosen to go to UP.

There are all sorts of considerations that could be raised regarding this question. Ultimately, you really can't go wrong .

Accepted 2/11 via e-mail.

Does the University have any long-term plans to close the carlisle campus?

It seems pretty unlikely considering they just built a brand new facility.

Dean Shively,

I just wondered if you could speak to some of the job prospects that PSU Law students have. I'm wondering if any recent graduates have gotten federal government jobs, specifically DOJ. Thanks.

No. There are no plans at all to close the Carlisle campus. In fact, we are expanding the joint degree offerings by making the JD/MIA available in Carlisle in the next year or so.

I am not the best person to respond to this question. You guys keep me pretty busy. I'll forward your question to the Career Services office and post their response as soon as possible. Even though it is generally challenging to find legal employment from any school right now Penn State has great and ongoing relationships with governmental agencies, especially in DC. Our Semester in Washington program is very popular and often leads to opportunities for our students.

See the link here (--LinkRemoved--) and watch for an update next week when I've had a chance to talk with Career Services.

What exactly does it mean when your "in review" date changes from one "in review" date to another? I mean why would it change when nothing has changed? Does anyone have any insight into this? Thanks in advance for any help!

According to the status checker, my decision letter was sent on 2/16. That's 2 days in the future. Let me break this down for you lawyer style. My admissions decision came in only 10 days, and they've already sent my admissions letter two days into the future. In conclusion, Penn State's admissions has a time machine. And they're using it for evil.

I wish all schools were as quick as PSU ... do they have a reputation for this? I applied last Monday and had a decision by Friday.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
