Re: Illinois 2011 applicants!
Waitlisted with 75th LSAT and above 75th GPA. Is this happening to any one else? I was pretty surprised, but also worried that something was wrong with my application. I have been accepted to some higher ranked schools though so I don't really know....

Edit: Forgot that I had already read Pless's comment on YP one time. Whoops!Arbiter213 wrote:Yield protect.woodson21 wrote:Waitlisted with 75th LSAT and above 75th GPA. Write an LOCI to let them know you're serious about their school. They're afraid you just applied there for the hell of it and have no intention of actually considering themwoodson21 wrote:Waitlisted with 75th LSAT and above 75th GPA. Last time there was discussion of Yield Protection in this thread, Dean Pless had this to say in his thread:Arbiter213 wrote:Yield protect.woodson21 wrote:Waitlisted with 75th LSAT and above 75th GPA. I have no useful input of my own on the subject. I've always understood this to be a numbers game, and your numbers say you should be in with a scholarship.Pless wrote:Also, I am trying really hard not to post on any other threads so I will just throw this out here.
I don't yield protect. Ever.

Went to "In Review" today, does that mean I should expect a decision next Friday?

Not sure why you would've gotten waitlisted though... That's weird...

Re: Illinois 2011 applicants!
I agree with the above posts. Write an LOCI for sure! With no app fee, I'd bet that UIUC gets more apps than other schools, and that they have more to weed through in terms of who is genuinely interested and who is not.
FWIW I wrote a serious Why Illinois to show my definite interest in the school and ended up with what looks like a tad bit more $ than my GPA/LSAT peers.

Re: Illinois 2011 applicants!
Thanks for the input everyone. I didn't write a why Illinois so that could have something to do with it. I was just surprised that the waitlist came so quickly because I didn't submit my app until mid-December.krad wrote:I agree with the above posts. Write an LOCI for sure! Is it desperate... or genius... to write a LOCI before your file is even under review? I wrote my little heart out on the Why Illinois?

I wrote a "LOCI," but I hadn't written a Why Illinois? So my "LOCI" was really just a late Why Illinois?
I think that, given that you must have gone complete in the last month, a LOCI would look desperate.

congrats! I'm jealous. Hopefully a higher Feb LSAT and other offers will enable me to bargain my 75k up,Tanicius wrote:In with 120k.
