Top Law Schools

I CAN speak to the safety of walking around LLS late at night. I do it all the time. I walk to Alvarado/Wilshire around 11pm on a regular basis to catch the 720 bus. I often stop and get a taco. It is not dangerous. But if I were a woman I might feel differently.

Does anyone know that if joining the online information chat would help leave an impression of "continuous interest"?

I am abroad and wonders what is the good way to express continuous interest because I can't visit the campus or join the forum...

I highly doubt it. I was actually on the information chat today, and it was an absolute mess. There were about 100 people throwing questions to a staff of about 8, with only 3 of the staff members actively answering questions. I doubt they were taking notes on the students...the group consists of a variety of students who have and have not applied.

Sounds like a clusterfuck... Too bad. I thought those things had potential to be useful (at least somewhat).

Phew...my file finally went complete today. I must have checked at least thrice a day for the past week. I guess there is nothing to do, other than sit back and pray i get in...really really hope they accept me, and that i will see some of you guys there

Top 30% was approximately 3.4 last year IIRC. That equates to getting straight B+s and maybe an A- in LRW, or some odd combination of Bs and As. It is not impossible, because as DS pointed out earlier we don't section stack (i.e. putting all scholarship people in the same section to ensure a large chunk will lose them). It isn't a cake walk, though. You have approximately 85 people in your section who the school deemed as qualified as you. You need to out perform at least 60 of those people to keep your scholarship.

Like any law school, you need to have a plan for doing well on the exams. I've noticed the ones with plans both here at LLS and on TLS were the ones who did better. Do you have to live in the library for 10 hours a day? No. Do you need to work hard and strategize? Hells yes.

B is the current curve. All changing the curve did was a) make our curve like that of other schools (UCLA did the same thing a while back...) and b) attract finger pointing. It is honestly not that big of a deal, since the main thing employers care about is RANK and not GPA; changing everyone's GPA .33 points doesn't affect where people are ranked.

All changing GPAs does is make our transcripts look like other schools' transcripts.

Having to beat out 60 out of 85 people sounds like a terrible time to me.
I mean, of course I'm planning on working hard and being organized and having everything planned out, but from what i've learned from tons of people on TLS is that even if you're super smart and study a lot, that doesn't necessarily mean you know how to take a law school exam. I'm kind of hesitant to take such a risk and end up paying sticker after a year :/

Just to clarify, I was not saying that if you plan and study a lot then you will get As; just that those who got As all planned properly and mastered the exams. That doesn't conflict with the TLS consensus... Regardless, I can understand being hesitant of the riskiness of trying to beat out 60 equally qualified people. It is a scary thing.

On that note, I'm off to finish my LRW memo for the rest of the day.
