Ahem

It shouldn't matter, especially since they offered scholarships so late in the cycle.

New to this this thread 165/4.0 I was expecting a lot more than the 29k i recieved, not necessarily because my numbers are so great, but considering the amounts that were offered last year I have to wonder if BLS may have been anticipating an admitted student pool that was keen on negotiating; perhaps they are starting us out low so they have somewhere to go. Students with similar numbers to my own were offered 35k-full tuition last cycle.

thoughts?

This is exactly what I'm wondering. I have a 165/3.8 and was offered 29K as well. How do you start negotiating though?

Off to the right on the main page where it says "Announcements" there should also be a tab that says "Web Advisor"

How much are you going to ask for if a specific amount? Whats a typical stipend? like 5-10k over tuition?

Can someone please tell me how to get on BLS Connect? I would have called, but they're closed already. Do I need to wait for the packet to come in the mail?

Thanks!

I've already started to negotiate. I sent an email which basically stated that villanova gave me just as much money even though their tuition is about 10k less per year and lets face it- philly is much less expensive to live in than brooklyn/nyc. Of course, this was stated in a much more eloquent, appreciative manner than I have just reproduced. I explained that should BLS increase my scholarship offer, they would clearly be my first choice.

Also, I have yet to receive my financial aid package; there could be a possibility that BLS is increasing their need-based aid at the expense of decreasing scholarship offers. Fingers crossed and best of luck to everyone with regard to their own scholarships/negotions.

Admitted student, trying to check for scholarship info. BLS Connect isn't working for me. Does it not work after business hours or something?

Does anyone know when we should be finding out about need-based aid? I got $30,800 but would need more to actually go to Brooklyn (which is my 1st choice). I'm very qualified for need-based aid. Do they typically have a lot of aid to give?

Does anyone have any information on how likely it is to be accepted from the wait list? And if so, when people usually here?

I'm also unable to check BLS connect and it's extremely frustrating.

This is really worrying me. Nothing is showing up on BLS Connect for my financial aid by year... which I guess means I didn't receive anything. Or, hopefully, my account isn't working right.

It doesn't make sense that I wouldn't get ANY money. My LSAT is 163 and GPA 3.2... I wasn't expecting a ton of money, but nothing? Really? Especially considering St. John's gave me 30k/year and Hofstra gave me 35k/year... I'm more than a little floored at getting offered nothing.

I applied part time! It's hard to tell since there's nothing on lawschoolnumbers. I have a 165/2.8. Is it true they don't give scholarships for part time?

Who did you email?! I've been drafting a letter as well, and was planning on mailing it, but maybe email is better?

so advice: if you are negotiating, push for the actual schol over the need-based aid. 10k of my money is in need-based and its really nerve-wracking because I know that they can only give half that for next year and they dont even need a reason. Scholarship is the only thing locked in. There is no law that says they have to give you the same amount of need-based aid every year, even if your financial situation is exactly the same

Thanks. I hadn't thought about how financial aid can change year to year. I was hoping for grants because although I (like everyone else :) ) think I can do well in school, I am 100% positive that I can stay poor, but you're right that merit aid would probably be better.

I don't really have much to negotiate with. The only better schools I've been accepted to are American, Maryland, and Cincinnati. I've gotten scholarships to other schools, but Brooklyn gave me the most money. Maryland would be cheaper overall (tuition + cost of living) for me since I'm in-state and could commute, but Brooklyn's tuition would be cheaper. Can I use that at all?

I'm very new to this whole negotiation thing and don't know what I'm doing, so any help would be appreciated.
