I sent in my application this week. 2.94/171. Anyone else applying to St. Thomas this cycle?

I applied early September as a local safety. Since then I got a ton of fee waivers which I'm using. I probably won't attend given the number of schools I applied to but it was still neat to go to their open house and I'll be curios as to what type of offer they'd give me.

They mentioned at open house that they begin reviewing files in November and making decisions in December. I've been "with admissions committee" since 11/3.
Good luck everyone!

My status checker changed to "decision sent" today. Anyone know how UST sends decisions? Should I check my mail, email, or keep checking the status checker?

Hey mine says decision sent 12/3 too. I think they notify via snail mail. I'm in the twin cities, so I'll post when I get mine. Good luck to everyone!

I called on Friday and forgot to post. They said decisions are usually sent Monday morning via snail mail. Here's to hoping the postal service is speedy this week... Seattle is quite the distance from St. Paul!

In via snail mail. My letter included scholarship info. Package also includes a viewbook and a copy of St. Thomas lawyer magazine.

Awesome, thanks for the post! I'm guessing I'll get mine on Thursday then since I'm so far away. Looking forward to hearing about the scholarship. I'd ask what you were offered, but you're only 2 points lower than my LSAT and a full 1.0 higher than my GPA... So I'm sure it won't compare.

I suppose for St. Thomas applicants in future generations this info might be helpful
I was offered a President's Scholarship - "a full-tuition, three-year scholarship, that is contingent only upon your remaining in good academic standing." The terms seem pretty generous, and from what I remember from their open house I think that in general they want you to be able to maintain the scholarships they award.

I think you've got a really good chance at decent money at Saint Thomas. You're 10 points above 75% LSAT and only .1 under their 25% GPA. I bet they'd gladly pay for your LSAT score! Good luck! I'll be curious to see what you get in the mail in a few days.

EDIT: Just read your profile. Go Iowa natives! (my mom's side is all from Iowa, and my dad and younger bro are both alums from Iowa state). midwestern pride shout-out done

I'll definitely let you know! The President's Scholarship sounds like a really great opportunity... That would definitely help UST jump up a few spots in my rankings!

Congratulations! What other schools have you applied to?

I applied to A LOT of schools (it's almost embarassing  ). Going into the whole law school application process I figured I'd blanket the top 14 and hit up the local schools (William Mitchel, UMN, St. Thomas and Hamline) just to see what offers I could get out of them if for some reason I wouldn't be able to move out of state for law school.

But then I started reading TLS and started getting fee waivers from schools in the top 20s-30s that I hadn't originally considered, but figured that if the application is only $12, it'd be worthwhile to have a few more options and possibly get some negotiating leverage. All said and done, I've applied to 30 schools and I'm not even a splitter.

I blanketed the top 20 (minus George Washington), and also applied to Illinois, Notre Dame, Iowa, IUB, W&M, UGA, W&L, U Washington, W&L, Alabama, Colorado and Saint Thomas.

As of now, my favorites are Michigan and Berkeley, but I'm also really considering going to schools like Illinois/WUSTL if given full rides.
I've got some thinking to do...

Decision sent today! If it is via snail mail this could take a while. I'm currently overseas (which just makes the waiting process even more unbearable, if that's possible).

Also, did you apply to William Mitchell? I saw in your profile you applied to UMN and St. Thomas, but was just curious about WM. The application is free this year, and they're ranked in the top 100. I worked in a foreclosure firm for a while where all the attorneys were either UMN or WM alums. I think the general consensus in the Twin Cities is that WM places better (much larger alumni network) and it gets more lay prestige than St. Thomas. On the other hand, St. Thomas has a mentor program where every student is given a mentor for all three years of school, so that could be an advantage at St. Thomas.

Anyway, I think your numbers will definitely get you into William Mitchell and probably snatch up some money too. Just a thought.

Also, congrats on St. Thomas, Iowa and Depaul!

Sounds like you have a TON of options... I hope the decision process isn't too difficult for you! Good luck on WUSTL/UIUC scholarship offers!

Definitely applied to WM too! It's going to be a tough decision as far as TC schools go vs. in-state (and hopefully $$) at Iowa. Then there's my other side that really wants to say goodbye to the midwest for good and go to CU haha.

Thanks for the congrats!

Hey all! Today I got two envelopes in the mail from St Thomas. The first contains a letter detailing the contingencies of their scholarships (remaining in good standing , which is a c average). The second envelope contains a holiday card and some saint Thomas swag. I'll give a hint, it's an article if clothing, but not a t-shirt! Enjoy! :D

Never knew this thread was made. I'll chime in. In and full scholly about two weeks ago. Received a phone call today encouraging me to visit an upcoming open house and what not. If William Mitchell matches their offer I'd def. take WM over UST, however I might still go to ASW or an open house just as an excuse to hit up the TC area. :)
