Just got a (very unexpected) scholarship e-mail this morning. In-state equalizer + $5,000 per year, no stipulations mentioned in the e-mail.
Sent in my seat deposit a few minutes ago (I was sending it in today anyway, the scholarship was just a nice surprise)!

Sent my seat deposit in this morning too. I put a tracker on it in the mail. LOL! That way i know when they get the check.
I hate I could not make it to the Admitted Student Day today. Boss would not give me the day off. My dad and I are going house hunting this weekend and maybe catch the baseball game vs Georgia though.

I applied in early february and my status is still at "file complete". This just seems like a bad thing...

In off the waitlist, but have to weigh whether not getting any money (at least as of the moment) is worth attending.

I just got a big packet from them in the mail yesterday. What sucks is that the seat deposit is due on the 25th, so it's a quick turnaround.

I just called them again today, and the lady didn't know anything - she said she was a temp.

Who is going to Ole Miss?

I'm pretty sure that I will get in, but I'm a little worried about their low ranking. Any chance that they will be addressing that issue in the near future? Also, how are job prospects in the region?

The ranking doesn't matter with Ole Miss. It is for Mississippi and slivers of the surrounding states. The rankings are completely useless after a certain point. I think it was Missouri-Columbia that plummeted in the rankings one year but something like that is irrelevant b/c it is a school that produces for the state. In other words, don't attend Ole Miss unless you plan on living in MS or maybe other smaller markets in the region.

As for jobs, median starting salary of 80k is complete crap and represents a small percentage of the class. As you probably know all schools play this game but here is what Ole Miss released:
http://www.law.olemiss.edu/img/pdfs/2009%20ERSS%20Summary.pdf

You will notice that a number of people have to start their own firms, not the best thing, but at least they are releasing the numbers.

I've been told that it is a decent school for a 40-50k job and when balanced with low cost of living it could work out. Keep debt low and it wouldn't be a terrible choice.

I might go to Ole Miss, but it depends on how much money they are willing to offer because I'm not keen on acquiring $60-$75k in debt when I get out. I sent in FAFSA late, since I honestly didn't expect to get off the WL and was planning on teaching for another couple of years to save up. So I'll see what happens in regards to any financial assistance, but I know Ole Miss isn't big on that. I'd take in-state tuition equalization and a few extra thousand. That would sell me.

Buddy with a 151/4.0 I'd be happy just to get in. I'm sitting with a 153/3.68 from KY and am try to beg my way in. Unless you rock the LSAT there's little chance of getting $ from anywhere.

My friend got in with that, although I will admit I was a bit surprised.

Agreed. I had an LSAT above 75th and a GPA above median and I didn't get an in-state equalizer, and it wasn't for lack of begging, or, for that matter, trying to use a $90k scholarship from a higher ranked school and acceptances into T50 schools as leverage.

I got all my scholarships after I had put in my seat deposit.

If you have a 151, for the love of God, please RETAKE THE DANG LSAT! Seriously, a 4.0 is too awesome to waste, and with a 151, you aren't going to get money from anywhere. Bring it up a bit, and your options next cycle will be far sunnier.
