Don't give up hope just yet. My status went to Decision Letter Mailed on Monday. Then on Tuesday my dad got a packet in the mail and called to tell me that I got in!

Applied 1-11-11 and should know something Monday. This has been my first choice since visiting Oxford. I'm hopeful but pretty sure I will end up on the waitlist.

It doesn't seem like there are a lot of rebels on TLS. If I am admitted, I look forward to meeting as $any people as possible.

Any thoughts on why Ole Miss seems to be the one school on the planet that doesn't allow admitted students to defer for a year?

Does anyone know if the waitlist is ranked? Thinking about emailing them to find where I stand.

I have heard that it is ranked (someone else had mentioned they were 4 on the ranked waitlist.)

Go for it, I would imagine after the seat deposit day a lot of spaces are going to open anyway.

Got accepted, I go to undergrad here already. I'm about to put down my deposit even though I'm still waiting for responses from my reach schools (Alabama is notoriously slow in making admissions decisions).

Anyway, at this point I'll probably end up here.

I know everyone talks about their new $50 million law building (which really is top notch, by the way), but admittedly that's kind of a moot point as far as law school quality goes. However, what it does symbolize is that management is making a significant investment in their law program, and you can expect to see them go up in the rankings in the coming years.

Ole Miss in general is growing. I am extremely impressed with the faculty and management of this school.

I look forward to getting to know everyone who's attending next year! Hotty Toddy!

For those waitlisted, this is the email I received from Cary Cluck when asked about a ranked waitlist.

We have not ranked our waiting list and generally don't do so.

We have not taken anyone off of our waiting list yet and probably won't until after April 15. If we take anyone off of our waiting list, it will be between late April and late June.

Thanks for keeping in touch.
Cary

I visited the new law school last week. I was really impressed. I felt like I was kind of rushed through a talk with an addmissions counselor and tour though. Drove 4 1/2 hours for 10 minute talk and 20 min tour. It was almost as if they were letting the new building do the selling. But I can understand why everyone was stressed out right now. They are having a big conference at the new building coming up soon, and the ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony too. They are still putting the finishing touches on the new building even though they are holding classes there. It is a huge investment to the law program at Ole Miss. I wish I could make the Addmitted Students Day on April 8, but I could not get off work at that time. I spent my vacation last week visting a couple of schools.
I spent the rest of the afternoon after the law school visit walking around campus and getting a feel for Ole Miss in general. The co-eds sure are easy on the eyes in Oxford and the campus is beautiful. That in itself could be a selling point too. I should have my mind made up by Friday if I am attending or not though.

I think your tour was just a timing issue. I visited while they were on spring break, and my tour suffered from being too long (honestly, I did not need the librarian to show me how to use the library website!). However, I can honestly say you probably got more from it than I did, since the co-eds (and all law students with even the vaguest semblence of a life) were off campus for break. Lets just say that the selection issue exposed me to all of the least interesting students Oxford had to offer!

Strange. I submitted after you and have already heard back, and your numbers are pretty close to mine. You might want to call them and ask them what's up with your file.

anyone else notice that the little disclaimer at the top of the status checker page went from "We will make every effort to release admission decisions by early April 2011" to THE END of April 2011? yikes.

I would say that's a slight exaggeration to make sure they have all their bases covered. Seat deposits for students with scholarships were due on April 1st and the rest of them are due April 15th. I'd imagine they would make an effort to let you know at least a few days before then.

Applied 2/21, in via snail mail on 3/29.

Anyone had any luck using schollys from another school to leverage an OOS tuition waiver? Quinnipiac (with whom they now share a ranking) offered me enough to make it cheaper than Ole Miss, assuming I pay OOS tuition for the first year but I'd probably prefer Ole Miss.

I got in last week. I'll be at the open house... Still waiting on Alabama, but Ole Miss is my first choice if I don't get in to Bama.

Is it too late to send an LOCI/updated transcript at this point since we're getting close to when they are going to consider WL applicants? I'm stuck on the WL like others here.
