Where do you think you're headed?
Loyola LA 87k scholly (top 30% stip)
That is the most cut throat stipulation I have ever seen. It's practically like Loyola saying you get 29K your first year and then good luck after that.

On the bright side: Loyola is a good school and you will be saving a considerable amount of money by going there instead of Hastings (assuming you get good grades.)

Top 1/3? I know at least Iowa and Seattle U also place that requirement on most merit-based scholarships.

Yea it's kind of scary, but (believe it or not) there are schools with worse stips out there. The way I see it is that it will still be cheaper than Davis or Hastings at sticker even if I lose the scholarship after 1L and it just isn't worth it to attend Hastings at sticker when job prospects at the moment don't seem any better than Loyola. Plus I'm from the LA area and know some Loyola alums and current students. Hell I'm not even taking out any loans for 1L, which should greatly minimize my debt load. Good luck to all you folks set on Hastings. It was actually my first choice going into the application process.

I hope they're not on the "final round" yet! Shouldn't that happen towards the end of the July or beginning of August?

My SHIP waiver was just denied, which is very confusing because my insurance plan was good enough to be approved during my undergrad at UCD. Sucks for them though, because i just printed out my 10 page insurance benefits plan for them to read over for my appeal....

My waiver was also denied.. I'm definitely appealing though. They told me I had to wait until Aug 1 when the head nurse comes back. I'll make sure to send them as much useless info as possible as revenge.

Why did they deny either of you waivers? The requirements don't seem to be that stringent. I hope Medical meets the requirements for a SHIP waiver... (or else I'll be out of $2,000 for no good reason.)

Mine was denied because my plan’s annual maximum out-of-pocket expense and deductible combined is $8,000 and the limit is $5,000. The reason I want to keep my own insurance is there is no lifetime out of pocket maximum, whereas Hastings' is $400,000. Hopefully I can figure it out and keep my current insurance.

People on the WL, if Hastings does not offer you a spot, will you apply again? If not, what are your plans for the next year?

I just got in! I received the waitlist inquiry email for the third time this morning and just got a call about 15-20 minutes ago. From a friend of mine who just withdrew, it sounds like admitted students have a final deadline coming for financial aid so I'm guessing there could be a few more WL people admitted in the next week or so, not sure though.

Did anyone else get the 3rd enquiry email?

I did and got the call with acceptance around 3:30. After four days of agonizing apt hunting around Loyola LA, they finally call. Had to cancel a deposit check on an apt but it is worth it. Better late than never.

Time for agonizing apt hunting around SF.

I just withdrew from Hastings yesterday to attend another school. Hopefully someone here gets my spot!

Any news for waitlisted applicants? It's already August... Never reveived the 3rd enquiry email and still sitting tight.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
