Didnt he say: Impossible is anything, thus showing us why college is so important for our generation. Kidding of course, this was an Adidas campaign that he was part of that lasted all of 10 minutes.

Hi Dean Perry. I <3 you more than Deans Z and Asha combined! (though they are pretty rad too)

Hi, all! Been reading this thread for the past few months and finally decided to register and post.

Thanks for the uplifting post. That is what I keep telling myself too, that “anything is possible.” Though I didn’t get a call, I’m keeping a positive attitude about the whole thing. I’ve had my heart set on U. Chicago since 2007 when I drove my younger brother up to take an undergraduate tour. I loved the campus, everyone I talked with was brilliant, and the whole thing just clicked. When I started to research schools more seriously I read what Chicago’s students had posted on these forums and my initial impression was solidified. First I applied to Chicago…sending out the rest of my application was a depressing chore; every time I sent one out I thought, “I would be so disappointed if I ended up there.”

I think that my numbers and essay give me at least a shot. Besides, my wife taught my little boy to ask, “Moving to ‘cago?” everyday when I come home from work…and that’s too cute to go to naught. So I’m staying positive and I’d encourage everyone else to think that way too!

Sigh. I wish they would stop playing with us and just WL/reject us already. If their acceptance decisions were already made, their WLs/rejections were presumably already made too, right? And sending out mass emails is much less time-consuming than making phone calls...

Deepdish, whatever happens, you have the best avatar on TLS. Hands down.

Maybe they are waiting till Christmas to send acceptances, like a surprise gift or something.

Really though - best of luck all, hopefully good news awaits!

Got the ED ding w/no rollover to regular via e-mail just now. 167/3.7 and some very good softs. So sad ):

Good luck to everyone else!

P.S. What other good schools still would let me get into their ED? or is it too late for most schools? I know I could just go look, but I'm way too sad right now. Thanks.

Stats?

Seems like the "everyone ED gets WL" is wrong because I got dinged too!

Has anyone received a WL yet from ED?

I'd imagine they send the emails out in a big batch but I didn't get a ding one. Still have a little hope my app got sorted in to the wrong pile.

170, 3.7 UG, and a Ph.D. I am not shocked that I didn't get accepted, but I am kind of shocked I didn't get WLed. Mostly I am bummed because this means I will probably have to leave Chicago. I love this city.

Just got the email. WL'd (174/3.5x). Their email says I can submit an essay to them and grades to LSAC, does anyone have any idea whether an additional LOR is acceptable at this point or if that is all that should be sent?

Just got the waitlist email, which says I'll be considered again during the regular cycle. And the waiting continues...

By the way, 166/4.02

I know. Shocked still.
To those WL - just one anecdote, but I talked to someone over PM that was WL last cycle, sent a great Why Chicago essay, and eventually got in. When he got in, the Dean mentioned specifics in his Why essay. Dont know if that means anything, just thought I'd let you guys know in case you were thinking of a Why Chicago extra essay.

Good luck on the WL!!!

Anyone care to share any of their planned topics/items for their why Chicago's? I personally plan to focus on the economics lean and how econ is a passion of mine and the opportunity to live in an urban area, something I haven't yet had the opportunity to do.

medieval scholasticism -- I think it helped my ED (I got in on the 20th) but it was a bit out there. Hope this helps FWIW

Also -- good luck everyone and hope to see you in the fall! Happy New Years :)
