Yeah, but what causes Harvard to go to their waitlist more than they usually do? It's reasonable to assume that they're giving the same number of offers for the same number of seats. If HYS yield goes down, it's not because people are getting off of better waitlists. It's got to be because more of them choose not to go to law school.sold123 wrote:How would he know the former? It probably hinges on Harvard's waitlist (assuming Yale doesn't need one) which Prob leads to huge chain reaction.

It's possible that this cycle a good amount of the t14s didn't fill out their respective classes completely (based on 2010's high applicant pool) and instead waitlisted/held a larger amount than normal to turn to after they got a more complete picture. We're probably still feeling the effects, indirectly, of 2010Bumi wrote:Yeah, but what causes Harvard to go to their waitlist more than they usually do? Re: Northwestern 2011 Applicants
I have heard that the held/waitlist pool at most schools has been larger than usual this year, but that said, I know of at least 3 other t14 schools that are still only taking a few off the WL. Then again, this may change quickly given the Harvard movement and/or people choosing not to attend.sold123 wrote:It's possible that this cycle a good amount of the t14s didn't fill out their respective classes completely (based on 2010's high applicant pool) and instead waitlisted/held a larger amount than normal to turn to after they got a more complete picture. Has anyone heard anything further? It's been a quiet week...too quiet.
Btw, when is the 2nd deposit deadline?

Gotcha. Kinda hate when schools do that, but w/e.Eugenie Danglars wrote:There's only the one deposit.
Any news from Johann?

You want them to take more money from you up front? Um...why?fingersxd wrote:Gotcha. Kinda hate when schools do that, but w/e.Eugenie Danglars wrote:There's only the one deposit.

If you really feel the need to pay another $750, you can reimburse me for my 2nd one, which I've already paid. (Deferred students get to pay three total deposits.)

Re: Northwestern 2011 Applicants
Only one deposit is annoying, I think. Lot's of schools do 2 deposits (ie. April 30 for $400 and then June 15 for $400 again -- just as an example). I much prefer that to paying $750 or whatever right up front -- particularly if you are waiting from other waitlists. Not sure what is unreasonable.robotclubmember wrote:lolwut?fingersxd wrote:Gotcha. Kinda hate when schools do that, but w/e.Eugenie Danglars wrote:There's only the one deposit.

It sounded unreasonable because you didn't mention splitting the payment. It sounded like you wanted to pay $750 twice, which is absurd.fingersxd wrote:Only one deposit is annoying, I think. Agreed. Paying $750 twice would suck. I assumed splitting the payment was understood as I believe the majority of schools do it that way. I should have been more clear.rinkrat19 wrote: It sounded unreasonable because you didn't mention splitting the payment. It sounded like you wanted to pay $750 twice, which is absurd.

Just spent 15 minutes telling them why I hated their application process. At least it's awesome they ask for feedback, I guess.

Just curious...why did you hate it? I thought it was nice and straightforward.d34dluk3 wrote:Just spent 15 minutes telling them why I hated their application process. At least it's awesome they ask for feedback, I guess.

I hated the survey (too tedious). And then it wouldn't let me choose multiple races so I just gave up on submitting it.

Every other school asks for basically the same things in the application. Northwestern's has a bunch of random stuff. I was just confused as to what the other stuff I needed was and why the process was different.Eugenie Danglars wrote:Just curious...why did you hate it?
