Does that mean only non-admit decisions are going out later today?

I think that was the general trend on past Fridays, too (admits first, other decisions later in the day).d34dluk3 wrote:That's how I read it.Magnolia wrote:Tweetsbyjohann: "small batch of admits have gone out. other decisions will be going out later today" (35 minutes ago)

Re: Northwestern 2011 Applicants
I believe my application went complete on 3/1 but I did my interview on on 2/15 so that might have something to do with it. My interviewer was more interested in talking about the Beatles so I'm surprised I got in.splitmuch wrote:+1neonx wrote:Congratulations, recent admits! BTW thanks Jrose for the aid information!

Has anyone on 'hold' heard any decisions lately? Anyone got out of the hold status?

There are some schools that I would be delighted to receive a hold email from.

Held. Very sad about this one - did nearly everything possible to make a perfect application to NW.

That sounds too late, but you better check anyway. If you haven't already done so, I would definitely send an addendum explaining to NU that you can't interview because you're abroad.bbermud wrote:Held. But will be submitting LORs/CPE's. true. my LSAT sucked to no end. like really sucked. being held at NU meant more to me than my acceptance to the school that i will probably be attending.

Re: Northwestern 2011 Applicants
Northwestern instructs that the CPE be completed by "someone who can evaluate your professional work-related performance (current or former supervisor, clients or coworker)." I would not have been able to ask my supervisor either, for the reasons you gave, so I chose a peer from another area of my organization who I knew I could trust and who would be able to write a thorough, candid evaluation of my work and career progress. She shared what she wrote with me and it was great - lots of specific examples, good insight into my strengths and weaknesses. I am sure that what she wrote was much more helpful than what my supervisor would have written. I'd encourage you to think outside the box a little bit about someone other than your supervisor who could thoughtfully complete this.antonin wrote: I am also not happy with the CPE. I have two years of WE, and provided two letters of recommendation from academic professors. Now that I am on hold, I feel the need to add a CPE. Asking my original LOR writers seems misplaced since they are asking for Career/work related insight, not academic.
Asking my supervisor is also risky though: there is opportunity for growth within the company, and I am considering a deferral or staying there if I am not accepted to a school that I will be comfortable with. Asking them for a CPE now, I have a feeling will put the alternative of acquiring a better position in the company at hold.

Re: Northwestern 2011 Applicants
Hold status update via email, etc. No big, I'm already in at my higher choices, I didn't have an interview or get the CPE(?) filled out, and thus, had no LORs for them either, because I applied at the last minute. But I'm tempted to write an essay on having dinner with a fictitious TV character.
WRT the debate above - I applaud NU's attempts to make the application process about something other than rankings. The CPE offers legitimate advantages over LORs, and, together with the interview it indicates a real holistic process, rather than the lip service other schools pay. If it makes students actually have to think twice about whether they want to apply to NU, so be it - that's not an unreasonable demand to make of applicants.

Re: Northwestern 2011 Applicants
You have read the post correctly. I have not accomplished much and I have little career mobility. I revel in the second chance that the admissions process affords me - you can read about it on the douchetastic blog I started tonight in the blog section. But I sympathize with the concept of seeking holistically qualified candidates, which NU is trying to do.Jeffro wrote:^ "But I'm still going to go to the best possible school I can.
