still no decision yet. Guess Temple doesn't want to accept someone with a 4.0 160 and mix it with my numbers for a win, win. So lucky I applied to schools I had no intention of going to, because I thought I was going to temple and that I was a lock, now I'll be going to the last school I applied to.

I do appreciate the constant e-mail and physical mail contact from Temple. In comparison, Rutgers-C gave me a nice shirt with my acceptance letter, but I haven't really heard much from them since.

Anyone going to the admitted students open house? I'm disappointed it's on March 19. That's the start of March Madness, and I'm usually out pretty late on that Friday the 18th. I'm assuming more information will provided that day compared to the other admitted students days, so I think I'll be attending. But it could be a long day.

okay fellow out of staters....since we've in the past discussed the difficulty of attaining PA residency status, i'm posting the pdf to Temple's guidelines for establishing residency. I do not know for certain as to why friends/acquaintances of current Temple law students failed to get their residency status after 1L but this shouldn't be a dealbreaker for other OOSers.

http://www.temple.edu/registrar/documen ... cation.pdf
It looks like if you show that you intend to stay in PA after graduation, you may have a decent shot. In short, factors/documentation that Temple may look at to determine residency status are the following:

1. lease or purchase of a permanent, independent residence in Pennsylvania;
2. payment of applicable state and local taxes and the filing of appropriate returns for such taxes;
3. transfer of bank accounts, stock, automobile and other registered property to Pennsylvania;
4. a Pennsylvania driver's license;
5. registration to vote in Pennsylvania;
6. acceptance of an offer of permanent full-time employment in Pennsylvania upon graduation;
7. continuous presence in Pennsylvania during significant periods while not enrolled as a student;
8. membership in Pennsylvania, social, athletic, civic, political and/or religious organizations;
9. affidavit of intention to reside permanently in Pennsylvania after completion of coursework; and
10. for minors or students claiming independence, evidence that the student is not a dependent. Such evidence may include copies of the tax returns of the student and/or his/her parent(s) or legal guardian(s) or sworn statements from the parent(s) or legal guardian(s) setting forth facts which establish the student's financial independence and separate residence.

who, me? i got a 10K conwell scholarship with my stats and i've gotten more money from other places and waiting from villanova as well. i'm suprised that they gave me that much bc of my gpa but softs were a big factor, i am thinking. anyway, never hurts to try and with people withdrawing, who knows what temple will do to attract their admitted students from going to other schools?

youre right, it never hurts to ask. I'm just saying, your gpa is 25th%, and your lsat is 75th% probably, my gpa is definitely a good chunk below 25th%, and I am bitter as hell right now that I did not get accepted, because my LSAT is far above the 75th percentile. I am still in shock. I got into schools (with money) where 95th percent of the kids who got into temple would be rejected. But I wanted to go to temple all along.
Anyway, how much would you pay with the 10k scholly? I am just wondering if it would even make a difference if you became instate, because I would think that the scholarship or at least most of it will not apply if you change to instate.

the cost would be something like 42K, if i do not get any other scholarship/aid. so you can imagine that i have been spending most of my time these past few weeks applying to scholarships. i don't think the conwell scholarship would be revoked or reduced if i get in-state, there was no residency stipulation mentioned in the letter, only a gpa stip. i will ask the school about it though just to make sure. anyway 42K is a really hefty price to pay and though i think temple would be a really great place to go to school for me, i won't be able to reach a final decision until i know i have done what i can to secure the most aid i could from temple and other peer schools.

In today via e-mail! Compete 2/7, no other changes except to admitted today. Actually really excited. This seals the deal for me and the city of Philadelphia! Interested to see the scholly info
