At least you got the packet. 15 days and counting...maybe they forgot about me.

Waitlisted today via status checker at Temple.... lol wtf? First complete was 11/2/10 and second was 12/15. Temple was sort of a safety, gotta say I'm shocked. I've already gotten into schools ranked in the 30's and I was in at PSU and Pitt with significant scholarships..

How much? Go to Pitt.

It was so low I had to read it two or three times.

I'd get the same tuition, fees, and books paid for like at Pitt, but COL
Is higher in Philly and Temple offered a tiny stipend.

Unless Temple negotiates I probably won't attend.

Have you visited Pitt? You mentioned earlier that you like cities and although it's been awhile I remember Pittsburgh being drastically different from Philly.

I grew-up in the Pittsurgh area (McKeesport), married a Philadelphian, and would have to disagree. The cities are alike in that they are both large and urban but Pittsburgh definitely has an industrial mid-west type vibe similar to other "rust-belt" cities like Cleveland, Detroit, or Buffalo, though the city is trying to shake that image. Philly has more of the East Coast type of culture. Others can feel free to disagree, but that is the impression I have gained.

I have never been to Pitt, but I plan to visit in the next few weeks.

I've heard mixed things about it - as far as "city life" is concerned.

Graduating from Pitt would leave me with about $9k in debt, and Temple would cost me twice that.

Yeah, so they're different. Isn't that what I said?

And kk, definitely visit before you make up your mind. I mean, in the grand scheme of things $9k isn't that big a deal if you like Philly more than Pittsburgh.

Many people from Burgh actually likes it better. 2 of my good friends are Pitt grads, I visit whenever I drive by that part of the state, it's pretty decent.

It matters more what market you want to work in. Did you apply to Rutgers/Nova?

ETA, I re-read it. You are complain about the stipend? lol Free is not good enough?

hehe

lol... I'd still have to take out loans to pay for living expenses.

I applied to Nova... been UR since 12/9, but I have little actual interest in going there.

I'm still waiting for Penn though.

So if you get Penn you would be happy paying sticker? Are you still UR or held? Good luck!

I was held. And, I might be ok with paying sticker for Penn.

...or maybe I'll end up at WashU or Illinois. Who knows.

Did you send in a LOCI? Make sure it's good, and good for Penn.

Good luck!

Wait listed today also. Not surprised though. Between Temple and a few of my reaches combined I had 100% chance of getting in so hopefully I'll get in to one of those. (I know I'd have to divide by the number of schools, but this way I feel a lot better :D )

From "Admitted Student Website -> FAQ"

How do I accept my seat in the entering class?

To accept your seat in the fall 2011 entering class you must submit an initial admission deposit of $150. For students accepted prior to April 1st, this deposit is due by April 15th, 2011. Students who are accepted to the law school after April 1st must submit their deposit within 10 days from the date of acceptance on their admission letter. A second deposit of $250 is due by June 15, 2011 from all incoming students.

The first and second deposits are credited toward tuition. Both deposits are non-refundable and failure to register will result in a forfeiture of both the first and second deposit. You must also forward a passport-size photo of yourself for your permanent file and a final, official transcript from the institution conferring your undergraduate degree, showing completion of all requirements for the degree and the receipt of the degree prior to matriculation in August, 2011.

Hope that helps

It's funny this is a temple thread but all I see is comments about Penn, Pitt, Wash U, Nova, Rutgers, and Illinois.

So is there any more good news?

This is my second application to Temple, was accepted in 2008 but withdrew and did not end up going to school that year. I'm hoping that I will be accepted again, but as we all know there are NO guarantees.

My LSAT is low for Temple (160) but my GPA is strong (3.69) and I went to Temple undergrad, so I know Bill Wertheimer, the dean of students, and hopefully that counts for something (I used to proctor law exams). But of course you never know!

I went complete 1/14 (a little late, I know) but I've been hearing that people are getting decisions who applied later than me. Maybe that's only part timers, I'm not sure.

We shall see!!

FWIW I pretty much had identical numbers to you and was waitlisted (slightly higher gpa). There were a couple people on LSN who had 160's and lower GPA's that were in accepted in December though so who knows how they are doing it.. maybe there is an in-state preference or something.

KK- mind pming me or posting your stats. I'm just curious how someone who can get a full ride at pitt and temple may have trouble getting into penn?

Accepted and put in my deposit!

Anyone know about on-campus housing and trying to apply for it?

I am surprised to see you here :D

I think it's normal since a lot of people are hoping/reaching for better schools in all the threads. It's just that when you get to T10 threads, people only have a few schools to talk about.
