Acceptances are big envelopes with folders in them.

This is almost as bad as Emory's process! Why so slow Huskies?!

I just don't understand how I can STILL be in review 12/1. I'm beginning to think they lost my application. Of course, they could have mailed something and not updated my status, but I don't know how likely that is. It just seems strange that they would be making decisions on IR 1/21 people - be they admit, reject, or WL - without making one of those decisions for my application first. I am so frustrated with UW right now.

My guess is that they are holding onto those who are borderline to get a better picture of the class before making a decision.

Also I think people have reported that you're either an auto accept / reject or you go to a larger committee for review. So you may in that stage of review at the moment.

I don't want to sound cocky, but I'm stuck at 12/1 and I feel like my numbers (169/3.7) are very strong for UW...

I am another one stuck at 12/1, and I do share your thought. However, the fact that their deadline is 1/15, and it is now 2/16, shouldn't they already have a general idea of their applicant pool?

I'm still IR 12/1. Just glad not to be denied yet.

I also just noticed that WLs are starting to pop up on the graph on LSN. So, I suppose maybe it is a good thing I haven't gotten a decision yet? Although I'm definitely worried. If you haven't checked the graph yet, you should:

http://washington.lawschoolnumbers.com/stats

Look at some of the people who are getting waitlisted. Is this yield protection? I can't make any sense of UW's strategy right now.

That's not cocky your #s are really strong. I'm expecting a ding on this one.

I haven't been in review as long as you have, but I do know they are pretty slow about updating their status checker. My status checker updated to "App complete/ready for review" (or whatever it said) on 01/21 with a complete/ready for review date of 12/27. That is, it took them nearly a month to update my file as complete. I called the admiss office and they told me it is because they only update the status checkers in batches, so it is possible to have a status that is not truly indicative of what is shown.

You may want to call UW and find out if you are still in review. They very well could have sent you a decision a month ago and it got lost in the mail. Worst thing that'll happen is that they will say you are still in review.

HOLY SHEET! Must just be a YP thing to make sure those applicants are actually interested....

Good advice! This is evidenced by a previous poster who got his/her acceptance packet while still being "in review 1/21" via status checker.

aaarrrrrghh

My days off, which are all weekdays, are torture right now. I just check my email and statuses constantly. I live so close to the UW Law building that part of me just wants to go there and sit down in the admissions office and say, "Let me know when you've decided."

I think I'm going to buy a video game or something and hopefully keep myself distracted for another couple of days.

Completing financial aid forms and applying to scholarships are also good distractions.

I've given up trying to figure out how schools decide who to accept, WL, YP, etc... Based on numbers alone, the LSN reports make no sense...

WL: Accepted:
171/3.60 171/3.35
171/3.86 170/3.29
170/3.50 168/3.45
168/3.84 166/3.77

UW averages the LSAT if there are multiple scores I believe. I saw a couple days ago that one of the 171 WL had 3 scores, and 2 of them were around 158. If they are averages out, the score is more like a 162.

I also wonder if they look at what other schools you have applied to (does the LSAC release that?) to see if you are likely to withdraw if admitted.

They actually only average your scores if they are in the same score band.

ETA: at least that is their official stance.

My only guess is that UW has an abundance of individuals with high #'s and so they are relying more on softs to narrow things down.

So if my letter was sent on 2/10 and I live in DC, when should I realistically expect the letter from UW? any other east coaster can provide some guidance?

For my own selfish reasons, I hope this is not the case... I'm an auto-ding for sure in a normal year, but I keep hope alive. If there is an over-abundance of awesome numbers, I'll probably just get a one-line rejection letter... "Really? Nice try. Thanks for the app fee."
