I just looked at the school selection list on the needaccess website and I didn't see University of Washington on there.

May I ask what you wrote your scholarship essay about? The prompt has me thinking a quasi-Why UW essay...what clinics/programs you most want to take part in, why your background suits you for that, etc. On the right track?

Also just some info regarding the review process for those who are interested:

I know a 3L who is on the admissions panel. They take their job seriously, so I have no advantage because of it. All I know is that they are able to take the personal statements home to read over, not sure about other parts of the application (this may partly be the reason for the long process). I also can confirm that the first panel (unanimous auto-admit/deny) > second panel (additional review of app) process does take place, and that the reviewer I know is on the first panel (as a 3L student).

Will you ask them about me?

Yeah, haha right after I ask about myself. Honestly, I know that if I was an adjudicator, I wouldn't want applicants asking me questions, and risking a conflict of interest or even loosing my job. They don't even know that I know (got the information from their colleague), and I will keep it that way until I get a letter. It also helps knowing that if I get in, I did it myself.

For UW, all you need to do is the fafsa
http://www.law.washington.edu/FinAid/Apply.aspx

need access has a list of participating schools, and UW isn't listed
--LinkRemoved--

UW makes it a lot easier huh?

In at uw. IR 1/21. Decision 2/9. Packet today. Also got the financial aid email. Just wanted to let people know. On iPhone. Probably won't respond if there are any questions until later. Congrats to all. Good luck to rest.

I got the financial aid email but haven't gone DF yet. I guess it doesn't mean anything.

Wow. Now people who went into review one month and twenty days AFTER I did are getting decisions. WTF.

Not sure if this helps, but I got my acceptance packet today, and am still "In Review" as of 1/21 according to the web site. Submitted my app Dec. 1. The letter was dated 2/14/11 so I'm not sure when my decision was officially reached.

Good luck to all!

I think you got a letter from.... the future.

But seriously, UW makes this process very confusing and nerve-wracking.

Hey I had a thought -

A question for those of you who saw you status change to decision: did any of you call and just ask what the decision was? If so, what was the outcome?

I looked through their site, and while they clearly state that decisions are made by mail, I can't find any statement that suggests they wouldn't reveal a decision over the phone if the decision had already been made. If someone finds out otherwise, let me know.

If my status changes to decision I might try this out and just see if they will tell me. It might be a good way to avoid a 7-10 business day wait.

Last year a couple people were able to do this near the end of the cycle because of "looming seat deposit deadlines." They told a couple people (apparently) who got in, but they wouldn't tell me (I was denied). I don't know if it would work this early in the cycle though.

I am thinking about it, but I don't know how I can make it seem useful enough to myself to justify the extra expense.

Care to persuade me? :)

I was thinking about it too... But I heard the Foster school is even more competative to get into then the law school (they really want applicants with substantial work experience). And since I haven't been in the workforce that long, I don't have a very good shot.

Yes, they prefer work experience. But I have very little work experience and a pretty good GMAT score, but I still got offered an admission interview. (They go from app - interview - official admission.)
Granted, my great LOR relevant to business school probably helped a lot.
But they really do look at your apps beyond the number of WE years. :)

EDIT: By very little WE I mean little to none. I'm still in undergrad, and did not work during semesters.

That's awesome - way to go! UW has just made it impossible to divine what they're doing... Either they're just doing this to mess with us, or there is some greater plan and reasoning behind all the madness or the person who updates the status checker sometimes doesn't do it. :D

jiggawhut, does it say whether or not a decision letter was sent in your 'mailings' section of the status checker?

IR 24 Jan as well. I got the financial aid email and am hoping that is a good sign.
