So... you want to be a public interest lawyer who specializes in helping resolve disputes between Asian scientists with health problems brought on by environmental factors while overseas? :D :D :D :D :D

Well, if we both get in and attend, at least I'll be able to figure out who you are easily.

Don't forge the part about litigating development rights for renewable energy wind farms on Tribal lands.

If a good chunk of this thread ends up at UW, we should have some sort of event with snacks where we can recount our admissions war stories.

I like snacks. And, FWIW, if I get accepted, I'm in for sure. I have no issue giving up a full ride at other schools to attend UW... mostly because UW will be free if I get in (Hooray for Post 9/11 GI Bill). I have a feeling that most of us that are waiting will attend, regardless of finances. Hear that, UW, let us in, take our (or the VA's) money and bathe in it! Just let us in!

As much as my optimism remains, there will probably be many more of us in your position :(

(are you considering SU at all now? or WUSTL probably?)

I am very seriously considering UW and am planning to visit in the next few weeks if I'm in :)

I'd love to have a snack session. Can we include beverages too? PNW breweries FTW!

Naked City Brewery and Taphouse, anyone? I hear they have some incredible beer. I also believe Pyramid is based in Seattle.

This is yet another reason why I compare Seattle to the Denver/Boulder area. Seattle is like our PNW twin (with the ocean nearby!).

lmi wrote:Hi all, so i took a break from the thread for a few days after being waitlisted, but have been checking back once in a while to see what is going on. I logged into my status checker and saw that a decision letter was sent 2/16 after my decision letter (waitlist) was sent 2/10 (which i received 2/15). I couldn't find much in this thread for what, if anything, this means. Any other waitlisters experience this? Just seems strange...
Just as an update and potential information...I had emailed my intent to remain on the waitlist last night before I checked the status checker...and I just received an email confirming my intention to stay on the waitlist, and that that information will be included in my file. I'm guessing the 2/16 "letter" is either not a letter at all (maybe they just updated the date on the file or something)...or nothing to do with the admissions decision. Still is strange, though.

If this happens, our avatars/screen names should be nametags.

OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHmygod, I hadn't even considered the possibility that the EMAIL counted as a letter. And it's not a decision letter!!!! Help, I can't stop using capslock and punctuation to indicate my distress! When I got held at Kentucky, they called it a "status letter". TITCR. That email is neither a decision, nor is it a letter.

I was all for snacks and beverages. Now I just want to mope!

I'm sorry-I could definitely be wrong, plus, I am a little pessimistic by nature...so take that for what it is worth. UW hurt me with the waitlist as well. actually, the only 'decision' i've gotten this cycle that actually broke my heart a little...

It's okay. You're probably right, because the "letter" has the same date as the email confirming that I want to stay on the waitlist. I just hadn't thought of it that way. And it reminds me that I could be waiting until July to get off a WL for my top school. I was happy with the WL, because it was better than a no, but now I just want a yes real decision.

Has anybody gotten their 2/15 letter yet? So far there seems to be a trend with 2/16 letters being waitlists. I'm starting to think that maybe the acceptances need to go through extra processing, which would explain why the 2/16 letters went out before the 2/15 letters.

Oh no, I was probably more excited about my WL than almost every acceptance I've gotten.
