FWIW I called admissions admissions yesterday as I, too, am still UR 12/1. The lady told me that the admissions committee only started reviewing apps on 1/17, when they got back from winter break. As this was MLK day, I took that to mean 1/18. When I said that I know of people who were admitted quite a while ago (from this thread), she said that these were basically auto admits, namely people who did not need to go through the entire admissions process but who at first review were offered admission. So, she said that since they have only been really looking at apps for about a month, there was absolutely no guarantee as to when I would hear anything but that it would def. be before 4/1. She advised me to submit my fafsa by the end of this week and wait.... like I have been doing since November :x

I guess I just don't quite understand what auto-admit means at UW then. Maybe in-staters? I feel like I have strong numbers for UW, spent my UG in Washington AND this is my second time applying. I just don't get it. It's frustrating because I would like to keep them at the top of my list...

Also, I'm still mad that they rejected Adjudicator. That was just wrong :(

Yeah, UW has been very strange about auto-admits. This info does make sense a little though, when you consider all the admits have so far been people on the upper end of the numbers spectrum or people with ridiculously good softs. Sure, there have been a handful of rejections and waitlists, but I imagine this is mostly due to splitter-hate, yield protection, and perhaps non-residents. If you look at the LSN graph so far you can tell that there is probably a pool of middle and lower numbered applicants that haven't gotten decisions yet.

That being said, if they really did not start looking at applications until 1/18, they should NOT have listed anyone's status as "In Review - 12/1."

I guess I will just have to be patient and start worrying when I start seeing more people in my number range getting the boot (or wait list).

I actually just thought of a fun game. I just broke us on to the 58th page of this thread (YEAH!).

We should take guesses as to what page the thread will be on when we get our decisions.

We could even arrange some sort of betting system and use money/beers/jelly beans as capital.

Ooh, I like! And depending on how angsty we get/how much we derail the thread... it could be up there! :)

I say... 72! (I hope we're ~60 for me, I want that letter tomorrow!)

Hi all, so i took a break from the thread for a few days after being waitlisted, but have been checking back once in a while to see what is going on. I logged into my status checker and saw that a decision letter was sent 2/16 after my decision letter (waitlist) was sent 2/10 (which i received 2/15). I couldn't find much in this thread for what, if anything, this means. Any other waitlisters experience this? Just seems strange...

My guess is that this thread will be on page 59.

I'm hoping I get it tomorrow :P

Exact same thing. I haven't gotten the other letter yet, and think it might just be a "thanks for staying on the waitlist!" letter.

My optimistic guess? They're choosing too many T14 candidates that are bailing on them and are already having to go back to the wait list.

Yeah. I was looking at the LSN graph and thinking that they have so far accepted a lot of people who most definitely got in to better schools and I can't imagine that all of them will actually be attending UW. Its like, for most of the people who have been accepted (at least on LSN's graph) UW was more of a "safety," and they have only begun to reach the applicants that are in the "target" or "reach" categories.

I'd like to think that they're going to regret denying me. But, I know better than that.

This is especially true with the amount of money UW doesn't hand out. Even if I get into GULC (interview next week), I'm still 60% toward UW. But that's because of family and my wife's job/upcoming MArch schoolin. If I were in at a few t14s or a few t30s with money, there's no way I'd do #34 at sticker. But for some reason, those seem to be the only people they're admitting.

IR since 1/21 and said my DL was sent 2/16... I've been following this thread all week and it's been the only thing keeping me sane (well, relatively sane... my housemates would disagree)

today was the worst though... mail came at 12:35 yesterday (yeah, sad i know the exact time) so, as any good law school applicant would, i sat by my front door watching my mailbox from noon until class at 3:40... (saddest part is, even though I would have CLEARLY seen our mailman right in front of our door, i still checked the mailbox about 20 times...you know, just in case the letter magically appeared) and in the end, apparently we just didn't get ANY mail today... would've been nice to know that earlier...

Aggiegrad2011 wrote:I've had nothing but prompt replies from UW and was admitted fairly rapidly in the cycle. Whenever I call or e-mail over there it's a fast turn-around. Mr. Lee, the Director of Fin Aid & Admissions, spoke to me on the phone for half an hour of his time and had no qualms with it. I guess everyone's mileage may vary with any school. Kinda weird how that works, but I've had crappy times getting a hold of people at other schools including my alma mater when other folks get replies or answers really fast.

This is why it is taking so long for UW to respond to the rest of us... you are hogging all their resources!

All I can think is, did LSAC report transpose the last two numbers of your score? I want to be hopeful, but then I think about you, and I just... don't get it.

Before I even knew what UW's colors were, I got some sweet purple and yellow puma sneakers this winter. Based on our current understanding of the admissions process, was I remiss in leaving this info out of my PS?

They will if you haven't already been waitlisted. I submitted an addendum to my app a couple weeks ago (still no decision rendered) and received an email a few days later that the addendum had been added to my file. I then called a few days later to ensure it had been added to my file, and they confirmed it was.

I thought you said you were so over winter! I love fog, too. I like snow, cold, gray, rain, stormy.

Trying to take my mind off LETTER, I am reading about Charlie Sheen. Oml, that guy.

Oh right. SHIT.

I think UW should think of it as a plus in my column, that I knew I wanted to go there, even before I knew exactly why, which is that ALL OF THEIR PROGRAMS align with my interests!!!11!!

Bahah Charlie Sheen is a crazy.

Yeah... I'm mainly over the icy roads/snow, but I love the cool fog/mist lol. If I didn't have to drive a 30mi/day commute I'd probably like snow in the city a lot more.
