Hubby is like, "How many people get dinged or WL'd on the first batch?" and I'm like "none really" and he's like, let's go celebrate! LOL. Scientists are so weird. I was born and raised nearby and leaving the area to go to Chicago was the biggest mistake I ever made.
Although, if you were cocky about it, it would just make the rest of us feel like garbage.
Honestly though, UW doesn't really play by the "number" rules. I don't know if the new admissions dean will change things up, but last cycle there were a lot of surprising decisions.
Waiiiittttt UG in Spokane eh? I'm pretty sure that narrows it down to Whitworth. Hmm?

I applied last year sometime in January I think. I was waitlisted some time in March or April. Technically, I still haven't officially received their decision.... I visited, wrote LOCI, called the office throughout the process... For those waiting or who will end up in the WL, be patient because UW was definitely the worst school when it came to communicating with WL applicants. I wouldn't stress and don't constantly check their status page like I did. Go travel and have fun.

You guys forgot the Moody Bible Institute and Spokane Falls Community College. All front-runners. Hahhah. Eh. I don't really care, I've outed myself loads on this site and adcomms could find me pretty easily. I haven't said anything I'm ashamed of though.PinkCow wrote:shhhhhhJakeL wrote:BLATANT ANTI-GONZAGA FLAME!!!!PinkCow wrote:

great advice. thanks!
I am also very sick of checking LS status. It is like a self-imposed timeout. It is wearing me down big time.

Personally, I only check my status after someone on here has mentioned movement. I'm reading this stuff anyway, so why not let other people do my grunt work?LilMonsterAnnie wrote:jebuschrist wrote:I applied last year sometime in January I think. Anyone know about the likelihood of getting in-state residency for tuition purposes?

Pretty much none. Washington is pretty much the worst for students re: residency. Have to live in Wash >1 year for some purpose other than education. Also, change your license, get some utility bills, etc...athenian wrote:Anyone know about the likelihood of getting in-state residency for tuition purposes?

After the first year, while you still won't technically be a resident, you get to pay resident tuition.

Interesting! That is good news. I suppose my info was only from personal experience with their undergrad policies which are obviously different than their grad ones.

Re: U Washington 2011 Applicants
Hope it works. I was involved in a lawsuit last year and the lawyers fought over which state I'm a resident of. Washington won but it's annoying all the hoops I'd have to go through to get UW convinced of it. It is really such a crime to move out of Washington for college?lmi wrote:You'll find this to be good news: http://www.law.washington.edu/FinAid/Residency.aspxathenian wrote:Anyone know about the likelihood of getting in-state residency for tuition purposes?

I got cancer in high school and dropped out for 13 months. I came back to school and graduated on time by doubling my course load senior year. I didn't get two years of foreign language completed though (as UW requires) and UW wouldn't consider my app regardless of the excuse.
Ugh, if you would have let me in for undergrad I wouldn't have to fight for citizenship now. Oh well, I forgive you. How about we make amends by accepting me to law school?

Re: U Washington 2011 Applicants
My application has been in review for a few days. I am an in-state URM(Mexican) with a 159 and a 3.33. Should I worry? I feel like I am right on the edge.

Re: U Washington 2011 Applicants
It will depend on how much the URM factor helps you. Usually it would be very improbable with those numbers but perhaps the URM boost will be enough.
Perhaps you can browse Law School Numbers and look for past examples of URMs with lower numbers who have been accepted, and see if they were in a similar range.

I'm not sure about your chances, but I wouldn't worry about being in review for a few days You may have a while to wait.mexicanwa wrote:My application has been in review for a few days. I am an in-state URM(Mexican) with a 159 and a 3.33. Should I worry? I feel like I am right on the edge.

All of these early notifications seem to be acceptances. If we have been in review since 12/1, when should we start worrying about getting waitlisted/rejected?
Thoughts?

Re: U Washington 2011 Applicants
Well I'm definitely worried. But all in all, despite the early acceptances here and there, it feels like UW hasn't really started the first wave of decisions yet. I don't think this ship has sailed, yet.chicityteacher wrote:All of these early notifications seem to be acceptances.
