Ugh, I'm totally distraught.

$$ at UCD makes it easier on my family to be happy, and sure simplifies the whole process of law school (like not dealing with the residency garbage, or familiarizing myself with an entirely new city, etc) but, OTOH, I don't really want to work in Sacramento or a central valley city if I don't have to, and that is primarily where UCD places into. As it stands, W is so inexpensive I will probably just have to choose it out of sheer fiscal "smartitude" while realizing that it'll be that much more difficult for me to get back into CA to practice later.

Lol this is a flame right?
Maybe it was meant as:

I have very strong softs (including a Master's), PS, and LORs, as in, I have strong softs, strong PS and strong LOR.

*shrug* benefit of the doubt
Yes that is what I meant. I don't know how that could have been considered a flame. So corrected: Strong PS and LORs, strong softs (including a Master's degree - which was not in English grammar apparently).

Just got the Waitlist letter.

169 3.69.

Thanks but no thanks UW. You can keep your knife-wielding bums, 24/7 rain, ugly modern-art failure of a glass building, asinine admissions decisions, and altogether lackluster national ranking to yourself.

I'll show myself out.

Lol only funny because it's sort of true. I'm telling ya, the numbers of some of the WL'd are insane. I guess they're not playing the rankings game or going t14 next year?

Barring your PS being written in white crayon, I thought you would have been an auto-admit.

Once again, another indicator that there is no real pattern here - just randomness. Sorry to hear. We all thought you were a strong candidate. I personally would be okay with the WL, but my numbers aren't quite as strong as yours :)

Decision: 2/28
Decision Letter Sent: 2/28

Just received the ding, though expected.

159/3.7, 8 years post-UG, combat wounded vet, highly decorated, great work experience and softs (or so I thought)...

As a fellow combat vet I'd just like to say hooah to you (or oorah ;))

There really is some weird way they make decisions... I can see a 169/3.69 being looked over, because that is prime YP stuff. I mean, with a 169/3.69, you'll be looking at the low to middle range of the T14 or better & they know that.

But the only difference b/n me and Scrabble is 3 LSAT points and a little GPA (mine is >4.00) but still, they seem to be very Vet-friendly, especially when I visited, the folks were more than nice and happy to accommodate me in the class.

For shame :(

Wow. I have absolutely no faith in my ability to get into this school at this point. Sorry about the WL, but I feel like you probably made it into some top notch schools elsewhere.

I wish they would just ding/WL me already so I can move on in my life.

I didn't want to play it up too much, but I was really hoping my medal for bravery in combat would have carried me through... It seemed to work its magic at Iowa. Oh, UW, why would you break my heart.

Honestly, I think they have a different 3 people looking at apps every day of the week. Only way to explain all the inconsistencies. I also believe UW should've admitted you scrabble on softs alone.

Boo! The hell, UW? Dinging the 175 and the highly decorated 3.7? And waitlisting the 169/3.69? As far as I can tell in this thread, nothing matters to UW... It's like they're trying to be Yale but with (somewhat) lower numbers.

Much sorrow for the recent casualties :(

Only thing I can think of is that they want the class to be so small, and residents occupy ~40% of the seats from the get-go, that they just are incredibly choosy with who they admit? (Unlike hastings, which has admitted like 27 pages of people since january)

I'm hoping that they are being YP happy and that these recent dings and WLs don't have too much bearing on my chances with my mediocre non-splitter numbers.

Out of curiosity, anyone that was dinged at UW apply to/hear back from UO, yet?

According to the LSN graph... the only way to guarantee admittance is to have at least a 3.9 and at least a 164. Hah

Edit: Also, it looks like last year they dinged the only 175 on LSN. They just must hate that number.

public school where residents made up 60% of the incoming class last year, for the remaining 40% of seats, you have applicants from all over the US, canada and abroad, that explains why they might appear picky.

Question for those who have received their acceptance packets: did you all receive any sort of scholarship notice with the letter or is that something we should expect at a later date (if at all)?

Having asked that, I'll just be glad when I have the physical letter in my hands period. :D
