Crazy?

It's a bit of a commute, but definitely doable. But you have to ask yourself whether this lack of convenience could adversely effect your grades/law school experience.

Some do it, but I don't recommend it. Especially with the Septa sometimes running late/being broken. Also, IMO you get lazy if you have to take the train 20-30mins everyday to do work at school. Unless you can stay super productive at your apartment, I don't recommend living so far.

However, Philly is much more fun...

You're a student at VLS, right? Any good recommendations on where to live? I have the student living packet, which is a great help. I've also been recommended to live in Radcliff House (I believe that's what it was called). Do you have any further insight?

What is this student living packet you speak of?

Request it. It's three pages front & back, and very thorough. It lists all of the local housing, prices, and information. I picked it up while inside the admissions office for my ASD.

I currently live at Rosemont Plaza. I would recommend this place to any future 1Ls. It's a little pricey (I pay $1015 a month because I have shitty view outside the window and $50 a month for parking inside the garage). The rent is for a single bedroom apartment and includes all the utilities (including TV). However, it doesn't include internet (I pay $35).

So far, living close to school has been awesome. (e.g. no need to rush to class because it's literally a 4 min drive using the backroads to school) Also, Rosemont Plaza is super quiet because majority of the tenants are old folks.

Another place I would recommend is Radnor House (right next to Rosemont Plaza). Couple of my friends who are also 1Ls live there and like it a lot.

Both apartments are also very close (walking distance) to the Rosemont train station (to go to center city).

Hope this helps

Does anyone know how much a trans pass costs from Rosemont train station per month, like to be able to ride public transportation unlimited??

Well, I plan to get rid of my car, so any place I live would have to be accessible by SEPTA... or close enough to walk.

Any suggestions?

A zone 3 transpass costs 42/week or 155/month... if that's what you're asking.

I don't know what your price range is, kk19131, but the Executive House on city ave. is pretty nice and across the street from the overbrook SEPTA R5 stop (about 15 minute ride to nova). I think studios start a little over $1000. I had friends who lived there last year and loved it.

You can download it here:

To those of you not wanting to live by Nova, but don't want to live in the city, check out Manayunk or Conshehocken. I lived in Manayunk for all 3 years at nova, and i honestly wouldn't have had it any other way. The commute in the morning through back roads is about 20 minutes (which gives you time to wake up on the way), and when it isn't rush hour, it's only about 10-15 minutes on the expressway, so it never prevented me from driving over if i had to stop in for a second

Interesting e-mail from Villanova today.

They asked what other offers I had received and then told me they would give me my scholarship offer first thing tomorrow?

Interesting.

that makes sense. they want to give you just enough money to keep themselves an attractive option compared to your other schools.

They requested the same from me, and once I responded, I was given an offer only a few hours later. They are extremely prompt.

I know this has been brought up numerous times but I am curious as to what everyone thinks about VLS massive drop in the rankings? #84 this year but what about next year when we really see the effects of the numbers? Does anyone ever see VLS bouncing back from this?
