That's a nice comma splice.

I have yet to visit Villanova's law school, but have been on their campus numerous times, and it is certainly nice. I am not as weary of Temple's area as some people may be (I think I'd be fine if I stick to campus; I know the surrounding areas are sketchy, for sure). Probably the main selling point for 'Nova over Temple is the area, but I'd probably live in Center City if I went to Temple, which I would certainly like. Besides the safety/area concerns of Temple (which I'm not that concerned about anyways), I'm not sure what else would tip the scales towards Villanova. But before I make that decision, I will definitely give 'Nova a shot and visit, and see/learn as much as I cangoblue123 wrote:I completely agree-barring no acceptances to my reach schools I'll probably be at Temple (even though Nova's facilities are nicer...I just can't justify going there at this point-I don't want to live out there and definitely don't want to have an hour commute every day from center city).philswfc2008 wrote:I am in the same boat. At first, Villanova was my top choice. Then, it lapsed into a tie with Temple (barring admissions from several reach schools). Now, it's getting hard for me to justify going to 'Nova over Temple. I was already concerned enough about the cost differential, but with the recent scandal, I really think Temple has moved ahead of Villanovagoblue123 wrote:In via email/status checker 2/21. Don't know if I'm considering Villanova because I'm already into Temple and it's closer to center city/doesn't have any current scandals.
Anyone else trying to decide between the two?
I've never been out to Nova's campus-do you have any idea how long it takes to get there (via septa) from center city?

The local from Center City takes ~20 mins (this stops at each stop). There are certain times of the day that offer the express train, which takes about ~10 mins. Villanova's stop is right in front of the law building.goblue123 wrote:I've never been out to Nova's campus-do you have any idea how long it takes to get there (via septa) from center city?

Take the r5 Train (Paoli/Thorndale line), it takes you directly next to the LS.goblue123 wrote:

It's about 30 minutes, give or take, by taking SEPTA. I know people do so, although I've never used that line to get to Villanova, so I can't speak for how crowded it is (the only time I've actually been on the R5 train line was for the Phillies World Series parade in 2008 - not exactly a representative sample!)goblue123 wrote: I've never been out to Nova's campus-do you have any idea how long it takes to get there (via septa) from center city?
If you drive, the time is roughly the same - a little less during non-traffic times a day, a little to a lot more during rush-hour and times like that. If I did decide to go to Villanova, I'd probably get a place in Bryn Mawr so I was in striking distance of the law school. Commuting from Center City would not appeal to me, although I'm sure you can get plenty of reading and stuff done on the train

Im an UG who commutes from NE Philly (further away from Nova than CC) and though I dont mind the ride and am used to it, I would recommend the train if you are living in Center City. 676/76 can be a madhouse in the morning, and 95 can also be brutal in the morning. I got used to taking the backroads from City Ave to Lancaster which reduces the insane traffic on 76, but rush hour commuting in either direction sucks on 95/676/76.philswfc2008 wrote:It's about 30 minutes, give or take, by taking SEPTA. Agreed...for a morning/rush-hour commute, you definitely want to take the train...as noted, the Schuylkill is just brutal during those times. I have about a 25-minute SEPTA ride into Center City for my current job, and it's not bad...I can get reading done and relax a little bit before the work day beginsoreo3405 wrote:Im an UG who commutes from NE Philly (further away from Nova than CC) and though I dont mind the ride and am used to it, I would recommend the train if you are living in Center City. 676/76 can be a madhouse in the morning, and 95 can also be brutal in the morning. Definitely saves time if 76 is insane. Other days its easier to take 76 if you go late morning/early afternoon or at night because there isn't as much traffic on 76 and there arent as many traffic lights. The City Ave route was a godsend though for my AM classesJDHopeful wrote:Love this route.oreo3405 wrote:philswfc2008 wrote:goblue123 wrote: I got used to taking the backroads from City Ave to Lancaster which reduces the insane traffic on 76, but rush hour commuting in either direction sucks on 95/676/76.

Who thought it was okay to have a two-lane main artery in a city??
I'm originally from northern NJ, but went to Temple UG, and this two lane highway thing seems really crazy to me. Though, I guess it is built on a mountain, so whatevs.

Hahaha! I am from NJ originally as well, it took a bit to get used to, and I wasnt used to the congestion. And people say the GSP and Turnpike were bad...haha.JDHopeful wrote:
