You'd think that at some point, someone would compare the "let's try and get these people to apply!" list to the pile of complete applications sitting on their desks waiting to be read.

And maybe if they weren't wasting so much damn time sending out second and third viewbooks to people, they'd mail out some DECISIONS!!

I had a hidden waiver when I submitted on 11/3/10. I've gotten two more viewbooks since then, but no follow-up email. Don't they love me? :|

Yep, it's PT/evenings for me. Gonna keep my full-time job to pay the mortgage, and as insurance against not finding a legal job right after graduation.

Calling it "part time" is a bit of a joke to me, since it looks like it's about one fewer classes per term than full time. :?

Anyone feel like calling the admissions office and asking when the first round of decisions will go out? :P

I haven't gotten a single decision from any of my 6 schools yet, and L&C is the only app I actually care about. The suspense is killing me.

503-768-6613, if anyone were so inclined. I haven't worked up the courage to risk annoying them yet.

I'm surprised that you haven't been auto-accepted yet.

Sure, I'll give the office a ring.

I finally girded my loins and called L&C.

The whole admissions committee has not met yet, but L&C will be sending out a "first batch" of offers next week, from a "certain pile of applications," or something to that effect. (I assume this means early submission auto-admits.)

The entire committee will meet on a weekly basis after the new year, and start sending out the bulk of the offers, in weekly batches, starting the week of Jan 17.

God, I hope I'm in that first batch. Waiting almost another month might kill me. :(

Yes, thanks for calling.

In other news, I received a big letter from L & C admissions yesterday and about had a heart attack. It was a letter saying 'look at this cool pamphlet!' and a pamphlet.

That's just mean.

I'm starting to think they really are just messing with us. They send them out and then come on here to see the responses they get.

+1

I came home and saw it in the mail slot.....Only nice thing is it gives me another set of literature to send to grandparents. Other than that L&C's mailings seem really craftily timed, those sadists.

I am REALLY glad I'd already called L&C and read these posts before I found that big envelope in my mailbox last night. I would've had a coronary.

Nice thought, but I think that's giving the L&C admissions office too much credit :| . If I were them and reading this, I would be pissed at myself for not getting the timing right on these mailers. Not that big of a deal, but points out a hole in their interoffice processes. Next year this won't happen--I'm sure of it.

BTW, if you haven't visited the L&C Law campus you're missing out. The campus and surrounding wilderness is f'ing beautiful. After taking the tour and wandering around the school grounds, L&C definitely became a contender for me.

Another one waiting on L&C here. I'm over their 75th% by a good margin, but I need money from them, so I'm just crossing my fingers here.
Keep getting all the same packets you guys are getting, giving me heart failure every time!!!!

I also have lived in Oregon my entire life, and live in Portland currently, so if anyone has any ? feel free to ask.

Temp today is supposed to be about 50. Winters are usually mild and wet with a couple of ice storms and the occasional spit of snow, which as someone else mentioned sends the entire city into a tailspin and grinds all operations to a screeching halt. This is not due to quantity of snow (which is RARELY more than 2 or 3 inches) but because of lack of ability to deal on the part of the city and the citizens.
If you have ever lived anywhere with real snow, you will laugh every winter, I promise you.

In with some money at L & C. I'm really excited about it.

Can anyone say anything about how good (or, bad) a 2.95 GPA requirement for scholarship money is?

2.95 seems pretty typical for schools with requirements (not including the sketchy places like Cooley where they're actively trying to take away your scholly). The median GPA is just over 3.00... This year's median GPA is 3.09, if I'm remembering the numbers I looked up yesterday correctly. Requiring you to be not-quite-average to keep a scholarship seems reasonable to me.

Can I ask your numbers, and how and when you found out? Because the admissions office told me the other day that the first batch was getting mailed next week.

rinkrat19,

I found out this afternoon by snailmail. Nikolai accurately reported my numbers.

Nikolai,

Now you have me worried that it was a mistake of some sort.
