Re: Maryland 2011 Applicants
Status checker for me today too! In review as of 11/16. I was kind of liking the out of sight out of mind thing that UMD had going on though- now I have yet another status checker to worry about.
But I love maryland! I hope they love me back....

I rather take Baltimore's streets over Route 1 anyday tbh.

For those who are able to check their status on line:
What do you see in the "Fees" Box? I have "$0" for each category in the box. Does the same apply to the rest of you? Or are your values blank?
Thanks!

That's normal for most schools before a decision. Doesn't mean anything.eternallearner wrote:For those who are able to check their status on line:

Re: Maryland 2011 Applicants
I have a question for those of you in the area. I am applying to Maryland, but my boyfriend has a very specific grad degree, and there are only schools in DC. I assume it is impossible to commute from Baltimore to DC daily or vice versa. Are there any small towns in between on a train line or something where we could both commute easily? Or is this all some insane wishful thinking and Maryland isn't a real possibility if we are trying to live together to save money? Thanks for any help!

Many people commute from Baltimore to DC daily. There are MARC trains which leave from the Camden Station, by the stadiums and the law school, and from Penn Station. If you are looking for a town in between the two cities, I would look at the station list and have your pick. Savage is about half-way and puts you near Columbia, which has a lot to offer.

So Maryland's status checker hadn't changed since going under review 12/14 but as I did my daily round of status checking of all my schools, I saw Maryland's went to decision made 12/21. I didn't think they were making decisions until January. Did this change for anyone else?

On LSN last year it seems that pretty much all the first batch of decisions were acceptances. Only a couple rejects that were obvious rejects.

Wow, mine does too. Called them and they said that "if it says decision made, it is our policy to send out notification immediately, so a letter probably went out today". However, the person I spoke to didn't seem able to confirm anything.

Same here, decision made 12/21... this must have just happened this afternoon because i did my daily round of status checker updates this morning (10 am EST) and it was still under review with a 12/3 date... let's hope this is good news for this group!

Changed for me, too. Damn, I wish I would have known earlier because I was at the admissions office today to take a self-guided tour of the school and I would have just asked them. Brand new (< 10 year old) building with a very friendly staff. I really liked the court rooms (though I'm sure most are pretty nice). They seemed quite proud of the clinical programs. Also, they have a big balcony outside the library that literally overlooks Edgar Allen Poe's grave.

I do have a question, though. Although Maryland states they will not give decisions by phone, do you think if I call them and ask what address they sent my letter to they would share that? Since I have my current mailing address in one city and my permanent address in another (parent's address), mailings from all the law schools I applied to have been showing up in both places, which kind of sucks.

Re: Maryland 2011 Applicants
Probably. I did this with another school that said they did not release decisions by phone.

+1. I am also wondering to which address Maryland will send the decision letter -- hopefully my permanent address! It wouldn't be much fun having to wait until I go back to school to find out whether or not I was accepted....DCLaw11 wrote:+1 as well!TurkeyDay wrote:+1Flett wrote:Mine just changed today too. Re: Maryland 2011 Applicants
That is exactly my predicament.....I'm home for the holidays and it will suck to be in limbo. However, I've found that of my two acceptances, one was sent to my school address and one to my home address. Talk about frustrating, esp since I indicated very clearly to send them all to the same address.environmentallaw wrote:+1. Decision mailed as well. Should I be concerned that under my deposit due, it still says $0?
