Re: Santa Clara University 2014
My status changed from "In Committee" on 12-17 to IC on 1-12, and under fees, there are three deposits listed (though they all read 0.00 under amount due)
Can I assume this means I got in, but they still have to change my status?

Probably. And if so, then I got in before you -- IC on 1/11. Live only 2.5 hours away and haven't received anything (and my mail already came today).Papa Smurf wrote:My status changed from "In Committee" on 12-17 to IC on 1-12, and under fees, there are three deposits listed (though they all read 0.00 under amount due)

Maybe Tuesday? (Monday's a holiday, right?)

Don't assume that, the deposits were always there as 0.00 with no dates.Papa Smurf wrote:My status changed from "In Committee" on 12-17 to IC on 1-12, and under fees, there are three deposits listed (though they all read 0.00 under amount due)

+1. Mine changed to "Decision Rendered" after having the IC screen update a week or so before.MrMisiu wrote:Don't assume that, the deposits were always there as 0.00 with no dates.Papa Smurf wrote:My status changed from "In Committee" on 12-17 to IC on 1-12, and under fees, there are three deposits listed (though they all read 0.00 under amount due)

I was contacted by a 3L. The usual upbeat stuff about the school. However even though they are admittedly slightly above the curve grade-wise and 'not an overachiever', they have already had an internship and worked within the SC courthouse. That's nice.
Anyone else get the over-eager emails from 3Ls? haha.

Came here to post just this. Am I supposed to respond? I feel bad ignoring it but there's no way I'd attend with the offensively low scholarship they offered me

I emailed back just to make small talk, because I have no real friends to talk to. Haven't gotten back to me. Now I feel even more offended than I did after receiving my scholarship offer.
Clearly they do not want my business, hmph.

I also received an e-mail from a 3L earlier today. However, I didn't think the information provided in the email was particularly encouraging. Some unpaid internships, but no job lined up for the time after graduation.

exactly- I have been worried about the state of the economy in California and legal employment there and this email only added to my worry.MrMisiu wrote:And all on loans apparently

Got this email too. Although it seemed to be somewhat personal, I think maybe we all received the same email from the same person maybe? There was no indication that the 3L was an assigned emissary or anything. However, it was nice to hear from them considering I haven't heard anything from them since they sent me an empty envelope requesting a seat deposit back in november.

That's the thing, the deposits have only been on mine since 1-12, it was just my application fee (or lack thereof) before.MrMisiu wrote:Don't assume that, the deposits were always there as 0.00 with no dates.Papa Smurf wrote:My status changed from "In Committee" on 12-17 to IC on 1-12, and under fees, there are three deposits listed (though they all read 0.00 under amount due)

I'm at the 75th percentiles for both LSAT and GPA, why am I sweating this? haha

Definitely don't sweat it
Earlier in the cycle people were saying the same thing that you did -"deposits popped up"- but we all had them since the beginning. Apparently they changed it up(?).
But like swilson said, statuses seemed to switch to "IC" twice, I know it did for her and me at least. Then a week or so later we got acceptances.

Also got the 3L email. Definitely discouraged by their not having a legal job (heck, ANY knd of job) at this point. And with 100% loans at that. According to multiple sources, SCU student loans average at more than $100K+, I believe... I actually did not even get offered a scholarship. That was quite disappointing.

I hope i get my letter soon, really interested in how much they will offer me. I would seriously consider settling for SCU over higher ranked schools if the money is good enough since it will further allow me to save money by staying at home for the next 3 years a well. I want to work in this area anyways. Not sure if it would make sense to go to Loyola LA or USD when i don't want to work in socal.

I've been complete since 11/8 and I still have heard not a peep. Thinking about withdrawing though.wokeemilo wrote:what is going on at santa clara??? in committee since 12/9! let's have some decisions, please.

My IC status date changed to 1/25/11. Hopefully, there will be a decision soon.
