Not that big of a difference between Cardozo bklyn and stjohns. Gotta finish top 10-15% for big law jobs (if you want them) at those schools. Brooklyn is my preference of the three only because I love the area and I know they have a great record of job placement due to a great alumni network. I know nothing about American so I don't want to give you advice out of thin air on that.

And make law review. There are enough people in the top 10% that aren't on law review and don't have jobs to make this a concern.

Just because you get good grades doesn't mean you're handed a job at graduation. This is true for most schools.

In with 20k a year with same class position requirements as everybody else. With new gi bill and yellow ribbon program, it would be free and the SO already has a job here. Then why am I nervous about going here over Pitt, Cincinnati?

I applied Monday and decision was mailed Wednesday, so I am hoping the quick turn around is a good sign. Can someone tell me if they send the letter out as regular mail or is it express? I'm in Alaska and regular mail takes forever to get up here, but knowing when to expect to receive the letter will put my waiting at ease.

Thanks.

2 quesions:

A) Can I get accepted with scholarship to the p/t program with 158/3.95? If so how much?

B) Is it worth going to St. John's period? How well do you have to do in order to get a decent job?

I was looking at LSN and noticed that the only people who heard back so far were the ones who were offered scholarships. Has anyone else on here (no scholarship) gotten a decision from the school yet? The status checker says that it will take 8-12 weeks after your app goes complete. Well I've been complete since early November.

Status checker changed 1/30 to A Decision Has Been Made

Didn't hear anything about the decision via e-mail, but I did get an e-mail invite to a St. John's Law info session at the school. Good sign?

Got the same email; thought it was finally a decision.

Still at complete for 9 weeks now. :(

Just received my acceptance letter in the mail with fully scholly! My "decision made" status was 1/25 and I just received the letter today. I can't scoff at a free legal education so St. John's is near the top of the list as of now!

That would be awesome. I'm coming out of grad school with loads of debt so I'm hoping to keep it manageable.

I have a 3.3/165 and I got a full ride, so I imagine you will definitely get one too, maybe even with no stipulations.

^ I have 3.43/164 and it seems like all of the stipulations are the same (top 40/50).

I got a full ride with top 40% stipulation with a 166/3.2

Someone earlier in the thread said they got one with no stipulations.. no idea how many of those they give out though.

Mine only requires "good academic standing". Someone told me exactly what that meant, but its basically "dont fail out".

If I end up going to St. John's I'm going to ask them to decrease the stipulation to this. Although, I suppose if I'm out of the top 40% at St. John's I'm screwed to begin with.

Which scholarship did you get? I got the Ron Brown, and that is what is automatically comes with. But yeah, try to get that removed, because the last thing you need to to mess up and end up paying sticker at SJU of all places

FWIW, St. John's is now my super-backup. I may end up withdrawing soon if I can find a way to finance another school. That'll free up my spot and my scholarship for others...
