Yeah Hempstead is expensive for no good reason. I had a full scholly offer at Hostra, and COA over three years would still have been 65k total. based on Hofstra's calculations.caligulove wrote:update: acceptance letter sent as well as an honors scholarship letter. here's hoping to getting enough to make it worth the ridiculous coa

Nice, congrats to everyone receiving this!Spack wrote:

With the money Suffolk offered me, Hofstra would have to at least match the 1/2 scholarship for me to seriously consider attending.
Wink, wink, Hofstra;-)

+1 to the Honors Scholarship Letter
Yeah, I would need at least $20,000-25,000 a year to seriously consider Hofstra.

I have the same thing and it says the letter was mailed yesterday. If the scholly is big enough I might go. So far I have received 20K from schools ranked higher. Does anyone know what Hofstra typically offers?

Has anyone gotten one of these scholarship letters yet? Mine said it was sent on 12/17 and I haven't gotten it yet and was wondering if anyone else has.

ballboy,
I'm in the same boat as you. I live about 4 hours upstate from Hofstra, so it's hard for me to believe it would take this long if they really sent it on Friday.

I live right on Long Island and haven't received mine either. It might be that they were printed off and their system says they were released on 12/17, but not necessarily mailed on that date. I know on one status checker I have for another school it said their mailings could take up to two weeks to be delivered.

Got my letter and scholarship in the mail today...$17,000/yr (top 40%). The money sounds nice but Hofstra's COL is expensive and I am not sure if this is enough to sway my decision...

Can you guys message me your numbers? Just wondering because higher ranked schools have offered me more money than Hofstra did. They only gave me 15K/year

Use the better offers from higher ranked schools to negotiate your scholarships.Gatorbull84 wrote:Can you guys message me your numbers? Just wondering because higher ranked schools have offered me more money than Hofstra did. They only gave me 15K/year

Re: Hofstra 2011
Can someone who has gotten a letter tell me if it came by regular mail or FedEx? I had someone check my mail at my school and there was no letter from Hofstra (which they said they mailed 12/17).. but they told me I had a FedEx slip regarding something left for me at my apartment building's main office.. Just wondering if I should call Hofstra and let them know I still haven't received my letter, or if I should assume that's what's waiting for me in the main office..

Re: Hofstra 2011
the coa at hofstra is bloated to say the least. i am an undergrad here and lived off campus where the if you live in a house with 5-6 people it is only about 600-700 a month, compared to the dorms which are very overpriced.
dont believe that it will cost 65k a year, because there are many options besides this that would easily cut this in half if not more

My acceptance packet came in a large blue envelope (contents were not folded) via snail mail that said "Welcome to Hoftsra!" or something like that on it. Maybe it was too big to fit in your mail slot.SixStrings11 wrote:Can someone who has gotten a letter tell me if it came by regular mail or FedEx? Perhaps. I head back to school next week, so I'll check with the main office. Otherwise I'll have to give them a call. Really interested to see how much scholly they offered me.jdncu wrote:My acceptance packet came in a large blue envelope (contents were not folded) via snail mail that said "Welcome to Hoftsra!" or something like that on it. Re: Hofstra 2011
Just looked at my acceptance packet again. For anyone who got an honors scholarship, did your packet also include an "Enrollment Reply Form?" I only have a "Scholarship Acceptance Form."
Maybe they just expect us to send our seat deposit back with the acceptance form, though the admitted students handbook makes no mention of this.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
