I'm going to go. I'm not sure if I'm going to attend in business attire (I have to leave immediately after work and I don't feel like making any quick changes in the car).

Is that Admitted Students Weekend? I think it's in March if I remember correctly. It wasn't in the packet, but the admitted students portal has a calendar of events with that listed.

This is what is listed, for people who don't have portal access:

Admitted Student Receptions:
January 26, 2011
February 18, 2011

Admitted Student Weekend:
Evening Welcome Reception
March 18, 2011
Admitted Student Program
March 19, 2011

Regional Receptions:
February-June 2011

Boston, MA
Los Angeles, CA
Florida
Washington, D.C.
New York City

In today via status checker and phone call. 1/24
1st acceptance / response of the cycle so I'm quite happy.
I'll be there on Wednesday, I live in Queens so its about 30 minutes away.

So just because I'm not withdrawing my application means I'm definitely going to Hofstra and spending $150k? Keep in mind people have the option to apply to other schools and/or receive scholarship.
In my own personal case, I'm already accepted at two other schools. Hofstra is my backup and there was no application fee. I don't see how it hurts me to see what I can get, and to have some options..

I agree. I have been accepted to a number of schools already and have gotten full scholarships (some with almost no stipulations). I recently got accepted to Hofstra and am waiting on their scholarship offer. If they offered me full tuition with realistic stipulations, why shouldn't I "consider" attending?

Quick question. So if there is nothing under mailings about "Honor's Scholarship," or whatever, can I expect to receive no money? Is there anyone who received money that didn't have this under mailings?

Hey Ya'll!

2 questions:

1) I applied 1/7 with a 158/3.95 to the part time program. Do I have a chance at acceptance/scholarship money? If so how much?

2) Is it even worth it to go to Hofstra? Being that its bottom of tier 2, would you have a decent chance of getting a good job from this place?

Thanks in advance!

I can't speak with considerable knowledge on this subject, but can say that I have a good friend ranked among the top 10 students at Hofstra. He does in fact have a big law job lined up, but I imagine he is the exception to the rule. Still, that should tell you that getting an elite job is at least "possible" in the broadest sense of the word.

If you only want biglaw it surely sounds like a huge gamble, but if you wouldn't mind working in a mid-sized / smaller NY firm, I imagine it is a solid choice.

Edit: To the first part of you question - I have no idea, sorry. Just got in today and no word on funding yet. Your numbers seem fine for admission though from what I've gathered.

Edit: Actually, never mind, I'm old and already tired thinking about it.

Hofstra sent my admit packet on the 18th, but I still haven't received it. Seton Hall sent theirs on Friday and I got it today... maybe I should call?

Yeah I think so. It said I was accepted, and the next day it updated and said they sent a honor's scholarship.

My status went from complete/under review to blank? Does that mean they're making a decision?

In today via status checker and email. I applied 1/10, pretty quick!
Mine also says Honor's scholarship under mailings.
