Hofstra 2011

Post by SixStrings11 » Sun Oct 31, 2010 11:23 pm

I did a search and didn't see a Hofstra thread, if I missed it, I'm sorry. I applied because the application was free and I figured it couldn't hurt. I also enjoy the NY area, but probably can't get into NYU, Fordham, or most of the other schools up there. But I sent my application in 10/13 and I haven't gotten an email or anything letting me know that they've received everything. Does anyone know if that's normal?

I applied on the 9th of October and I still haven't heard anything! I applied Early Action! On their website it says to call if you don't hear anything back within 4 weeks of submitting your application.

Oh alright. I'm just glad to see I'm not alone. I guess I'll give it another week or so and then call them. Thanks!

i just sent mine in last night. Check LSAC to make sure that everything has been transmitted. Sometimes schools only update once a week, or once every other week. Im not sure about hofstra, as I sent everything in over the summer. Its still early, so dont panic yet

:? Alright.. I might have to call them and make sure they received my application. LSAC says they sent everything.

It took me about a few days to get the email, so perhaps they send them out in batches. Also, i applied for RD, and not ED so that could be another factor. In any event i hope you get the confirmation soon and get in.

If you want to compare numbers i have a 153 and a 3.98.

Now i see that you sent it in on the 13th of last month. Was your CAS file sent as well? Perhaps that why you did not get the email? If you want i can post what the email said, however, it was a standard we have your application, and come visit us.

Yup.. LSAC says the application was transmitted 10/13 and the Law School report was sent 10/14. So everything has been in for awhile. I'll probably give them a call Monday. My numbers are 158/3.61, although I don't think that would affect how long it takes them to let you know they've received an application. Thanks for your help, and good luck!

You two are score twins. I am not sure what their time line is, however, if early action students hear around December, we should hear around January.

I went ahead and emailed them asking. I applied EA at the beginning of October so it's kind of important to know if I have all the necessary stuff is with November 15th rolling around soon. I will let you guys know what they say.

just curious, why didn't you apply EA? i assumed it would just let you find out the decision earlier, since its non-binding

The reason i did not apply ED was because their website gave conflicting information, and stated on one page it was binding and on the application it said it was not. I would rather not take that chance as Hofstra is not my first choice.

Hofstra and UPitt are the only NE schools I applied to.. and Indiana, which I guess is in that general location. The rest are all SE. I know you didn't ask me. Just joining in the convo.

Ick! I grew up in the Southeast (GA) and I go to school in the Midwest. I made it a point not to apply to any schools in the South. The closest I get to the real south is W&L (which I ONLY applied to because of the joint M.H.A program) and American. I like cold weather and I just like people better in the northern states in general though that is a really big generalization.

I am getting seriously frustrated. It has been almost four weeks since I applied and I have heard absolutely nothing. I emailed on Friday and I still have heard nothing. Considering I applied early action, I need to know if something is missing before Monday even though I'm pretty sure I'm complete.

this may be a bad question, but have you tried calling them?

I found that its much easier and faster to call the school directly, but i dont know how it would work in your specific case

Calling might be a good idea. If I don't hear anything tomorrow I probably will call. It's just particularly annoying as they are the ONLY school that hasn't even told me as much as "We received your application". *furrowed brow*

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
