Just got it. $7,500/year...half of Michigan's offer. Thanks, but no thanks.

Seriously? If GULC thinks they will attract you with a tight deadline and less than 1/2 of what you got from Michigan they must be crazy.

My thoughts exactly. Although I didn't mention my Michigan scholly initially, so I'll let them know about it to see if it budges their offer.

$7500/year. Seriously, GTown? You can do better. I wonder if part of this has to do with the fact that I've talked to Dean Cornblatt about need-based aid (short version: I will be getting some of that), so the merit offer is lower. Even so, eesh.

It seems like, from what I've seen, that they often give out as much or more in need based aid as they do merit based.

I AM HERE TO WHINE ABOUT HOW INSUFFICIENT MY MERIT SCHOLARSHIP TO AN ELITE LAW SCHOOL IS. I AM CERTAIN THAT ALL OF YOU PEOPLE WHO WOULD LOVE TO GET AN OFFER ARE ABSOLUTELY ENAMORED WITH LISTENING TO ME WHINE ABOUT THIS.

Hoping so, because I'm probably going to qualify for some of that. My conspiracy theory is that they saw my FAFSA and decided to knock down my merit aid because they'll give me need-based aid later.

If their need-based equals their merit, then the total will be at least close to my Michigan total. And since my Michigan scholly eliminated me from applying for need-based grants, they'd be equal in the end.

Are the offers coming via email?

so if we did not get the email, does that mean GT is offering 0 in merit aid? Because that would settle that.

ugh SOOO annoyed they didn't just make me an offer but instead asked me to tell them how much it will take. Judging by the lack of generosity from these awards, I HIGHLY doubt they will give me a full ride + a stipend lol. But congrats to those getting awards nonetheless!

I have lower numbers though than other people on here who got less than I did, and my family is like completely broke so I can probably expect even more later. I think they might be handing out money conservatively if they think people aren't going to accept it anyway (even though of course the best way to woo people with better acceptances is to give them a ton of money). But when I responded to that initial email I basically wrote them a LOCI, so I don't know if their offer has to do with them thinking I'm very likely to matriculate there. Otherwise I think this is weird.

10k/year as well. Happy, but less than scholly to Michigan which makes it a little hard to justify attending (in my mind anyway) even though I'd rather go to GULC than umich. Any idea if the offer amounts are set in stone??

See if they'll negotiate, especially since you prefer them. Michigan's ranked higher, so they should pay attention to that. And since they're being so low with these, I'd imagine they have plenty more to give.

Got my offer. It's almost exactly the same as UChi's (and when you factor in COL it's way cheaper to attend Chi) so looks like Georgetown is out. Congrats to all the other scholarship recipients!

Anybody know if this is all of the merit scholarship offers they are going to make. If it is then I will take my $93,000 at Texas or the AJD program at Northwestern and peace (although I am cognizant of the fact that G-Town has amazing, amazing professors and tremendous alumni connections)! Still... I don't think I could justify the cost difference. Thoughts?

I'm going to guess that not getting a scholarship offer on the first day that the committee released offers is not logically followed by not getting any scholarship offer.

A different question: Did the people who received the scholarship offers share with the committee their offers from other schools? It could be that the people who are still waiting are just more "complicated" than the others, for the committee. Just a guess.
