Trade you.

Has anyone had any luck getting in contact with the person whose name is on the financial aid email (A. Spada)? I've been trying all day, and I just get voicemail.

Guess that means I can stop frantically checking my email.

Awesome. So I guess we'll get some sort of clarification on Monday, at which point we'll have like 72 hours to make a decision. I wonder if they'd be willing to push back that deadline, given the circumstances.

72 hrs? Aren't the deadlines on April 15?

Nope - forms must be submitted by Thursday, April 14th. (At least that's what my scholarship email tells me.)

So we'll get answers to our questions sometime on Monday (the 11th), and then have to decide and submit by Thursday (the 14th).

Not sure if it's the same for the later deadlines, but for the scholarships that expired on April 7th, we had up until 5pm EST that day to say yes/no.

FOR THOSE INTERESTED IN CLARIFICATION ABOUT LAW CENTER SCHOLARSHIPS (and those who skim):

I wasn't able to get a hold of the contact in the email, but I did speak with a friendly woman in the Financial Aid Office.

1. The Law Center Scholarship includes whatever need-based assistance you received or will receive in grants. [This was confirmed by someone else earlier in the thread.]

2. This is when I asked if the scholarship offered for each year was guaranteed or if the need-based portion would fluctuate and thereby shrink the scholarship. She gave a very clear (and great) answer, which was something along the lines of:

Each year we need to reapply for financial aid. The need-based portion might decrease for years 2 and 3, but if it were to drop at all (e.g., to half or even to $0), they would compensate for that difference with more merit money, so we would still receive the full amount indicated in the email about Law Center Scholarships.

This was fantastic to hear! I am so excited! Being guaranteed that amount for each year just changed everything for me. I think I'm Georgetown bound! : )

P.S. Other people should call and confirm this. I will call on Monday to speak with the woman specifically mentioned just to be safe. However, the woman I spoke to today said that my questions were very easy to answer, so that's a great sign.

Also, to clarify some potential confusion, the intent to enroll forms are not binding -- I have confirmed this with several representatives of the GULC financial aid and admissions office. I've sent mine in and am still waiting for my financial aid/scholly evaluation at Penn.

i got in on friday via email! so excited!

i plan to visit next week, but given that i've missed the admitted student days, any thoughts on what i should make sure to do/see/ask when i go?

also, does getting in this late mean that i will probably get no moneys? i could see that it might be too late for scholarship money (not that i'd get that anyway), but what about need-based?

So, I got an email on Friday from the financial aid office which let me know "my financial aid" award was ready. MyAccess showed only loans. Obviously, no need-based (expected). But, does that mean no schollys either? I thought Admissions handed out scholarships, not the Financial Aid office, so now I'm confused.

They handed my merit scholly the very next day via email.

Withdrew today, released some merit money back into the pool. Hopefully it'll get to someone soon.

+1 When I was emailing with Alison earlier this cycle, she gave me the same explanation (and in writing, too!) Basically, your yearly award amount could theoretically go up if you somehow demonstrate more need, but it will never go down below your scholarship amount.

Yes. All of us are broke, it's our parents' incomes that do us in. Join the club. :(

They don't. Sucks, I know, but that's the way it is, and they confirmed this at the Q&A with the finaid people at ASW.

For the Dean's Certification Form (due May 2nd), does it look shady if I check the box "I do not waive access to this report"? I know I'm in good standing, but part of me always worries that they might accidentally put something negative. And if they do and I suffer because of it, I'd at least like to be able to trace it back to a mistake on this form, which I would only be able to do if I have access to it.

So yeah, would GULC have a problem with me not waiving access?

Thanks!

They already let you in--I don't see what they could do if you don't waive access.
