Thank you! The interview was fine--it was a group videoconference interview with Dean Cornblatt (LA-DC). The format was a little strange at first, but the atmosphere was very relaxed. The dean was great at getting us all to relax. I'm thrilled at the quick turnaround!InvictusFortis wrote:Welcome to the thread, how was the interview?Siamsa414 wrote:Thanks!Marionberry wrote:Congrats!Siamsa414 wrote:In via ASW after group interview last Thursday. Do you plan on attending the 2nd ASW?

Probably not--that particular weekend is a really busy one at my job. I would love to visit on my own later in the spring, though. Any thoughts on the virtues of independent campus visits vs. ASWs?InvictusFortis wrote:Do you plan on attending the 2nd ASW?

The faculty book is hugely impressive. I really wasn't considering GULC before I started reading it, but the faculty is hugely diverse in ideas and backgrounds.
Granted I haven't read any other school's faculty books so maybe all faculties are like that

I'm thinking of doing the same--particularly because I'm in DC, so I can pretty much visit whenever I want, but GULC's 2nd ASW happens to overlap with another ASW I want to go to.Siamsa414 wrote:Probably not--that particular weekend is a really busy one at my job. I was thinking of visiting GULC/other schools with conflicting ASWs on my own as well. Maybe if we collaborate we can take a group visit or something?c_dubya_s wrote:I'm thinking of doing the same--particularly because I'm in DC, so I can pretty much visit whenever I want, but GULC's 2nd ASW happens to overlap with another ASW I want to go to.Siamsa414 wrote:Probably not--that particular weekend is a really busy one at my job. Re: IN at GULC c/o 2014
anyone else just get the "update" about merit scholarships?
I am writing today to give you an update on the scholarship process at Georgetown Law. We appreciate you letting us know that you?d like to be considered for merit funding at Georgetown.
As I mentioned in my previous email to you, the Scholarship Committee is very interested in using our funds as wisely as possible to assist those students who are genuinely interested in coming to Georgetown. It sounds like you may still be waiting to hear back from other schools to get a clearer picture of the options before you, which is, of course, perfectly reasonable.
Rather than continue to go back and forth with changing circumstances, we think it might be best for you to come back to us when you feel you have a better sense of your options and offers and, with more of the information in front of you, let us know how much you think it will take to make it possible for you to join us at Georgetown.
As always, if you have any questions at all about scholarships or anything else, please contact us at hotline@law.georgetown.edu. And I hope to hear back from you with news in the not too distant future.
I might just withdraw lol

Lol so basically they want people to wait to get all offers before contacting them. Damn, maybe I should fill out my USC financial aid info then.
Does anyone think it's possible to leverage a 106k offer from GW to get some $ from Gtown?

dude that's a huge complement. They're asking what it would take for you to go there. Tell them a free ride + stipend! lol or, if you wouldn't take it even then, well you know what to do.eaa1537 wrote:anyone else just get the "update" about merit scholarships?

Hahaha I guess... I just wish they would've offered me something upfront that I could work with. I'm still waiting on other merit offers and I'm not exactly sure when those will start rolling in so I'm hesitant to delay the process even further. Oh well, I guess I'll send them an email sooooonsarahlawg wrote: dude that's a huge complement. They're asking what it would take for you to go there. wait is this how they always do merit scholarships? or is this type of thing (asking how much you want?) only for some people? do they give offers at all and if so when do they come??eaa1537 wrote:anyone else just get the "update" about merit scholarships?

Whoa that's crazy! I basically replied to the original email with a LOCI and at the end included other schools I'm considering. I think I did a pretty good job that I could be swayed to their side with some financial incentives, so hopefully not getting a second email means I'll get something? Either way though, it seems that they'd be willing to work with you. That's pretty awesome!eaa1537 wrote:anyone else just get the "update" about merit scholarships?

Absolutely. PM me when you're thinking about visiting (that goes for both pereira6 and Siamsa414).pereira6 wrote:I was thinking of visiting GULC/other schools with conflicting ASWs on my own as well. Edit: And, of course, anyone else who wants in on creating our own ASW!

Got it too. Not sure how to handle it. I also wish they would have just made the offer.eaa1537 wrote:Hahaha I guess... I just wish they would've offered me something upfront that I could work with. Re: IN at GULC c/o 2014
Yeah I also basically told them I was still interested and then at the end I told them I was being considered for the Levy, which is what I guess they're referring to with "still waiting for other offers". I also fed them a line about wanting to stay a hoya since I'm a gtown undergrad- so I thought I came across as genuinely interested... guess not? I'm surprised not more people got something similar, so maybe no email does mean an offer first??law_monkey wrote: Whoa that's crazy! EDIT: Ah glad to see I'm not the only one! I don't want to come off in a bad way by saying something like- give me a full tuition scholarship lol

Re: IN at GULC c/o 2014
It could have something to do with you mentioning the Levy invite--they're worried they're going to loose someone and want to make a significant attempt at getting you to GULC. I didn't put in any information about my other options, so I doubt I'll be getting one of these emails. I also don't have a Levy invite...eaa1537 wrote:Yeah I also basically told them I was still interested and then at the end I told them I was being considered for the Levy, which is what I guess they're referring to with "still waiting for other offers".
