You know, I really haven't heard much about how Loyola is with money. Even though Loyola is ranked higher, I would definitely think DePaul is a "peer school," so it's always worth a try. What's the worst that could happen? I would wait until you get the Loyola offer though.uwgbluedevil wrote:I got 19K a year from DePaul, do you think Loyola would be open to negotiating matching that offer even though they are ranked higher? I know Loyola hasn't sent out offers yet, but I dont anticipate theirs being as good as DePaul. I think the facilities are very important, albiet not nearly the most important aspect of choosing a school.Capitol A wrote:Haven't been to DePaul, but Loyola is gorgeous. Everything is very new and nice, and the atmosphere is incredibly professional. Like you're stepping into the job on day 1. I loved it when I visited. In fact, my visit convinced me not to submit binding apps to higher ranked schools.uwgbluedevil wrote:Can anyone who has been to both DePaul and Loyola talk about the differences? I have heard the facilities are awful at DePaul, and if it comes down to those two for me, I'd like to have a little better information about the differences between the two.

Have you tried looking at last years threads or LSN to try to find out how generous LUC is? I'm curious about this as well.uwgbluedevil wrote:oh i'd definitely wait. I was just wondering.
I think if you get one of their fellowships (I'd be interested in the health law fellowship), then that's pretty valuable; but as far as normal scholarship, I'm not sure.

Re: Loyola Chicago
yeah ive looked at LSN. People with similar numbers didnt get nearly as much as what ive gotten at DePaul, but if they could come close, even if i have to negotiate, I would probably choose Loyola over DePaul

Re: Loyola Chicago
Did anyone else get this:
"Congratulations! Your file is complete. If your file is complete prior to January 15, you will receive a decision no later than February 15. Due to the volume of applications, we will be unable to provide status or decision information via phone or email."
My status checker says "Application Complete-Thank you"
But has said this for about 2 weeks and the date keeps changing...today it says 1/24/11.
Does this mean a decision was made or no?

It means that the application is complete and perhaps under review (LUC does not have a under review status) and the next step is "decision made."mimi82 wrote: Does this mean a decision was made or no?
Good luck and hope this helps.

I have been complete since around 11/18 with no date change or anything. I do have the February 15th notice so I guess I'll wait until then. Blah.

Yeah, I think I'm going to get WL'ed or rejected at this point. It is my first choice but I have already gotten into my close second choice with $ so it won't be so bad.ashle484 wrote:Same!! well complete 11/29/10 but still no date change or anythiinggg. so frustrating!

Dinged by Mail today and five minutes later got the email from Northwestern too - Dinged there too.
Obviously Chicago does not want me - but I hate cold anyways. I guess Wisconsin will be my consolation prize.

Got an envelope from Loyola's Office of Admission and Financial Aid today. Got all excited.
It was a letter about involvement opportunities at Loyola.
Buuuuuuuuuuuurrrrrrrrrrn. (Must start taking the dates given by schools seriously.)

Re: Loyola Chicago
Has anyone who has been accepted at Loyola heard about $$? I've been browsing their website and it looks like they have a lot of scholarships one can apply for. I'm jumping in kind of late in the game and may miss deadlines due to not even being accepted by Loyola yet. Here's to hoping they offer some financial assistance based on merit.

the email I received stated that scholarships will be sent out starting in February.
btw I applied jan 10 and received an acceptance yesterday so (in my experience) the turn around was quick.

Not sure, I'm interested in health care law and I've heard good things about their program, but money is also a concern of course.
