Re: Buffalo Waiting Thread
I've been on the road since the new year. Back home now but didn't want to go round 2 with LSAT with a week of prep.

I think you have a shot. I would recommend writing something of a "Why UB" statement. It's obvious you have some serious affinity with the school already. If the adcomm sees you are serious about sticking around they might overlook your LSAT score.jln82 wrote:What do you guys think my chances are getting into UB: 3.75/152, Summa Cum Laude, Poly Sci, UB Grad, LORs from SUNY Distinguished Professors, 10 years full-time employment, President of a well-known WNY corporation, solid charity work, lots of publishing and licensing credentials...make a good living in Buffalo and it would suck to leave...worst case scenario retake the LSAT I guess and wait another year...it just sucks when your 28 and you have to factor in 3 years of work in a situation that works for you...

Also, if wait-listed is it wise to send an updated resume? Many awards/opportunities/recognitions for 2010 in my field happen first quarter 2011...so my resume could be on roids right now...I've been tempted to send an updated resume this week but I'm not sure if that would be wise...any advice?

If waitlisted I would definitely send an updated resume. Anything that indicates a continued interest will help you in getting off the waitlist.jln82 wrote:Also, if wait-listed is it wise to send an updated resume? would you send a 'Why UB' statement right now? My personal statement touched on that in its conclusion and was very Buffalo themed because I won a national contest for the city a few years back...QueenCity1L wrote:I think you have a shot. I got my financial aid information with my acceptance letter last year. That was in March, though, so I'm not sure when they begin to send it out.northwood wrote:My fasfa is done. Just did my taxes on friday. When should i hear if i got any financial aid?

If you already conveyed your particular interest in studying/practicing in Buffalo through your statement I guess you don't want to overkill. I would stay positive. With that GPA I think you have a shot at being accepted outright. In the event you are waitlisted you should make an appointment with admissions and express your interest in attending.jln82 wrote:would you send a 'Why UB' statement right now? I hate checking my status with UB. They have, by far, the ugliest website of all the schools I've applied to. And this matters to me, it really does. Especially when you check statuses as often as I do.

It's 35 degrees here, and it feels legitimately balmy and beautiful outside.

Nice congrats! Did you get any kind of email notification or did you just keep checking status page?

Re: Buffalo Waiting Thread
Congratulations. I have been under review since 1/31, wonder if that is a bad sign. I don't know how I would get dinged there, but it is a possibility I guess.

Got into an Ontario school so I will be withdrawing from Buffalo. Got the admissions package in the mail the other day it was very well done. Also came with 5K/year.

I will! As a UB UG, I might as well join and enjoy the company of fellow UB applicants.jetergrl2ss wrote:Anyone going to the March ASD?

Re: Buffalo Waiting Thread
Well, since I'm here, how many people got scholarships in their acceptance letters? It feels like I'm the only one who didn't get a cent from the school. I received my acceptance email about two weeks back and the actual letter a couple of days after. In neither of these letters is a scholarship mentioned. Meanwhile, Syracuse, Albany, and St. John's have offered me money, and if I'm getting this correctly, they're in a higher ranking than Buffalo this year.
So would it be hard to try to get some money from Buffalo if I mention that someplace like Syracuse or even Albany have given me money to make it comparable to Buffalo's sticker price?
Also, to note, I'm in-state, and there's no retaking the LSATs.
157/3.63
