1. There is no Wegmans in Philly
2. I have never been to a Wegmans, it is not well known here
3. The closes one is in South Jersey, about 15 miles + $4 (soon to be $5). The closest one in PA is 30 minutes from Penn.

Totally off topic, but...wtf is a Wegmans?

I could google this but I want to hear it from y'all first.

Bummer it isn't directly in Philly - their location map deceived me! On the other hand, 15 miles is nothing. I have driven an hour for Wegmans. God I miss it.

We have ACME!

Actually there is a lack of supermarkets in Phillly/around Penn. There is a Fresh Grocer but everything is over priced. I have lots of options near where I live but you have to drive there. I do think stuff cost cost 10%-25% more in Philly as opposed to 5 minutes away by car, and sales tax is 1% more.

And alcohol is more expensive because you have to buy it from state owned stores :x

Ew. In Virginia, as well. Is it just liquor or beer also? (Yah, it's that important.)

Wine and spirits in state stores, beer in distributors. Distributors close early and only sell in boxes (well that shouldn't be a problem lol). I don't think either sell on Sundays (I could be wrong, haven't bought beer in a while). You can't buy from supermarkets, but you can buy from takeout places (very expensive obviously).

Some unfamiliar with Wegmans may categorize it as a "supermarket" or perhaps a "grocery store." Those of us familiar with Wegmans know that it is oh so much more. It is grocery heaven, and unexpectedly affordable as well. (Though I admit the prepared foods- which are divine btw- are $$$.) Good selection of natural foods and cheese and the like. Solid bargains (with Shoppers Club, of course). <3

 you got to ask your friends to go take you shopping across the bridge in Jersey or down in Delaware where there is no sales tax (vs. 7%) with cheaper prices. It's only about 20 minutes down I-95 from school.

But then what happens if it's last minute on a Sunday morning and I forgot to get beer for the game? In Baltimore I have only to walk about .5 blocks, regardless of where I am... lol

OR what if I've already been drinking and that's just ages away?

We have better ones and cheaper ones, probably not both.

Grocery heaven is reserved for Walmart Supercenters in states like WV and SW VA only. Sorry.

Holy shit, you live in Baltimore?! Tell me that it is exactly like The Wire. :D

Hmm...okay. Well, I can't say I know any grocery store I'd ever get excited for, but apparently, Wegman's is the place to be! I was hoping it was going to be something like a BevMo!

I go out to drink on weekends. During the week I go around Penn for free boos. If you go to the right functions you can have 2 nights of unlimited free beer per week. Just venture outside of the law school.

In many ways... yes. Yes it is.

Although I have to say, I really love it. If only Hopkins had a law skool!

Hahaha nah. Choosing a law school based on Walmart is just silly. Unlike choosing a school based on the availability of beer.

I have my priorities straight, r6!
