I haven't been paying too much attention, is today the last day of calls until January?

I say no, but I am probably overly optimistic.

Fwiw I wrote the ds and 5 year and got WL yesterday. Numbers just below medians.

And congrats to those in so far today! I'm sure the rest of you all will get called today or tomorrow!
I was sad for that one :(

However if you have the numbers but don't really put in the effort they probably will put you off toward the end of the line.

In via phone call at around 12:45 est! So excited. Who normally calls for acceptances?

GPA above 75 and LSAT just below 75.

Geez you guys, coming from the west coast and not writing a why Penn? DS is pretty standard and I think they know that.

Fwiw, I only wrote the DS as well so its definitely not killer to your application to not have the 5 year plan.

ETA: not from the west coast (midwest)

I had a Why Penn interwoven into my personal statement, so I did the DS to keep from being repetitive. If they have a problem with that then I guess I'll know soon. FWIW I'm West Coast and I only applied to East Coast schools, so if they have some kind of strategy based on location then it's their loss. I'm just going to keep staring at my purple NYU envelope to keep myself from getting frustrated with Penn.

Wow, grats! :) I guess opting out of ED doesn't necessarily kill one's chances.

Also, cruelest, thanks so much! It does make the waiting game for NYU a liiiiil easier haha. Also, what do you guys think about withdrawing all my apps from where i've gotten in/still waiting to hear that I'd def pass up for Penn now? I feel like it's the right thing to do...

I'm not sure about Penn, but I know someone who switched from RD to ED at a peer school, and they told them they had a whole different group of readers review their app, people who didn't know he switched from RD to ED. Oh and the best part is they sent the request to change from RD to ED on the same day they got a rejection email , but they re-reviewed his app with fresh readers and he got in ED .

Thanks guys!! I got my fingers crossed for those of you still waiting. FWIW, Dean Post sounded like she had a lot more calls to make that day; the call was really short.

Penn's def one of my top choices so hope to see a lot of you guys at ASW!

A question for those with strong numbers (YP-worthy) who have been admitted: How many of the additional essays did you write? I only wrote the five year one, which I treated as a Why Penn?, but I'm worried that only writing the one will hurt my chances.

I noticed that some people said today could be the last calls before the new year...why? Isn't the office open till Thursday at least?

I believe speculation was based on last year's calling pattern. This year seems to be different though, so it's definitely possible they will make calls tomorrow and/or Thursday.

It would seem odd to me if those of us under review don't hear something before the break... you'd think they would want to close all the files (even if via WL) before they pack up for the holidays.

Thanks...and congratulations to all! I am quite excited by the prospect of moving back to Philly...if anyone has any questions about the Philly area I'm happy to take them via PM. Though I know we have our resident expert r6 here...
:D

Good luck to everyone still waiting!

For what it's worth, I wrote 5-yr plan and went UCR 12/15, 12/16, 12/17, 12/20, at least.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
