BU 2011 Applicants

Post by Calla Lily » Tue Oct 26, 2010 12:37 pm

Submitted my app on 10/23, but have yet to receive any confirmation from BU that they received my application...anyone else apply and have to wait a couple of days to receive the application received notification? I only ask because all of the other schools I have submitted to so far have sent a confirmation of receipt. Also, does BU have a status checker?

After submitting my app a couple of weeks ago, I received acknowledgment of receipt the next day and an e-mail letting me know I was complete exactly 1 week after I submitted. There is no status checker.

Hmm...weird. Thank you for the info! Just checked their website and it says I can send a status request if it has been 10+ business days since I submitted my application and I have not received notification of receipt. Guess I will just wait until then.

Submitted mine on Oct 1st, and received a complete email on the 7th.

Calla Lily: I think you should wait a bit more before sending them request as there are more apps coming in now compared to early Oct.

Submitted 10/19 and received a confirmation email the next day with this:
Please allow at least three weeks for us to determine the status of your file. At that point, if you have not received confirmation that your file is complete, then please feel free to contact the Admissions Office at bulawadm@bu.edu or (617) 353-3100. We will be happy to update you on the status of your application at any time.
Nothing else yet...

Already- just sent in my app and settling in for a nice wait. I'm a splitter, so I'm expecting all kinds of unpredictability. Good luck!

I'm planning on applying here. Originally, I was extremely interested in going here, but after reading all those doomy end-of-the-world economy posts on tls, Im reconsidering. What do you guys think about this school. Do you think we'll be able to get a big law job graduating from BU? That BC letter to the dean also got my kind of nervous. I think BU and BC place similarly.

I'm complete at BU. I don't care about big law, I have other goals (I also don't know anything about big law placement).
IMHO that letter to the BC dean was pathetic. Did anyone tell you this was going to be easy? Was there some sort of garauntee? If you want job garaunteed to you, go to apollo college and study lawn mower repair. Obviously the legal profession is competitive, that's part of the reason that we all want to get into it (if you deny that, you might be going into the wrong line of work).

Submitted 10/28/2010
Received 10/29/2010
Looking at the admission graph-- http://www.top-law-schools.com/images/d ... 010/BU.jpg --it seems last year they started to send out acceptance in early November. Let's hope for the same this year.

Submitted my application last Saturday. I'm a reverse-splitter, so I fear I'll get rejected. But I'd love to gain admission.

Mine was received on the 21st and dubbed "complete" on the 28th. I'm a long shot but hopeful.

Calla, did you ever hear back? I submitted a full week ago, and it's still "transmitted" on LSAC, and I haven't heard from BU. I did 9 other apps at the same time, and I'm at least LSAC complete at all of them

C'mon, BU, get it together!

I remember mine took almost a week to go LSAC completed, although I submitted mine on a Friday afternoon. My guess is if schools require certain things in LSAC report such as index number, it will take longer to complete. However, it is just a guess. Hang in there!

I submitted my app to BU in september but was pending for my Oct LSAT score. Now that everything is transmitted (and 'complete' on LSAC) I have not heard anything from them.....is this normal?? Should I use their status checker request to confirm they still have my file somewhere?

Plenty of 2L's and 3L's this year got big law, I don't know the %'s yet, but it is more or less all of my friends. Assuming things continue to improve at the current rate and there isn't another catastrophic crash, you should be fine. See the BU 1L's & 2L's taking Q's thread for more info.

Also, BU has one of the fastest turn around times from complete to decision, usually around 3 weeks. I applied to about 15 schools on 11/11 last year and I heard from BU on 12/2, it was my first decision.

Thanks for the info. Don't you think that quick turnaround has a lot to do with the applicant and with the timing of the app?

Heard the same from everyone, my 11/11 app was later than any of your applications and I was not an auto admit, only slightly above the medians.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
