Alright people lets everyone calm down. There are more factors than the LSAT that go into this, and arguing over the merits or statements of any one candidate is like drinking N/A beer. What's the point?

Did the people still waiting/who recently got dinged apply kind of late in the cycle?

I didn't go complete until like February something, so that may explain a straight rejection at 3.4/171

I know of late applicants who were accepted, rejected and some were put on "reserve". Others claim to be still waiting for a decision. lawschoolnumbers.com may help regarding specific application dates.

Still waiting for a decision here... applied in early January

not a good sign for people waiting? or maybe i just suck

171 lsat

what is their deal? They are taking 169s (no offense to those who got in) and reserving my 170 and rejecting your 171? is this some kind of whacky YP thing going on?

Not meaning to be rude, but considering the best school you've gotten into is what, Georgetown? I think that it's pretty ridiculous to say you've been YP'd by Cornell.

Edit: Not saying Georgetown is bad, just that it's hard to buy a claim of YP without someone being a strong candidate at significantly better schools than the one that WL or rejects him.

I think my definition of yp has more grey area than yours does. Anyways I only have one reportable stat for them to give to usnews and that stat is above their 75th, so yeah I guess it isn't all about the numbers? And considering that I was mostly talking about another persons 171 your comment on what schools I've gotten into was a little harsh.

There are lots of schools where it isn't "all about the numbers" and Cornell is one of them. I'm sure they must YP though-- so many applicants apply to Cornell as a safety school, right? Or maybe its just those who have more Cornell type numbers (say, a 169 instead of a 171) do a better job tailoring their application to Cornell because they think that is their best bet.

Just follow the instructions. You need to fill out needacceess (click the link) and the cornell fin aid form (also on the page). You also need to send in your tax return and both of your parents'.

No you don't. You only have to do that stuff for need-based aid. Just contact office of admissions and directly ask them about merit (if you're not applying for need). It'd help if you can send them another award with which to leverage.

I can confirm what woeisme is saying. The Cornell website states that you have to fill out those forms for any aid, but it's not true. I e-mailed the Cornell financial aid office directly and asked about merit-based aid, and the woman there got back to me within a few days with my initial offer. I don't really see the harm in filling out the need forms (I eventually did, and asked that my file be re-evaluated with the extra information...no change was made based on it), but you definitely do not have to if you take the right approach.

Forgotten -- despite almost withdrawing 3 times, and painfully putting down a deposit at BU law yesterday

Yeah it is painful. Nothing wrong with BU though--I'm depositing there myself.

oh no doubt, and at 25K scholly a year, REALLY nothing wrong....

just hate making decisions without knowing all of my options. My best guess though is that is was the right one, considering my chances of even getting reserved this late in are quite slim...

Definitely tried emailing about merit aid and was told that I had to submit all the documentation stuff. Frustrating! This might be the end of the road for me and Cornell :(

I think that is shocking. I have a funny story about U Miami but I wouldn't have expected that type of shenanigan from Cornell.

If so, enjoy Vandy. I was just on their campus last month and it is fabulous.

It's just tax returns... send them in, see what happens. Didn't you have to fill out needaccess and the other stuff for the other schools anyway?

Anyone on the reserve list who emailed the office that they wanted to stay on the list receive any sort of confirmation? I got confirmation when I was first deferred, but still no "reserve list" confirmation.

Thanks all

You can do it! If you've already done NeedAccess and FAFSA I think it's worth the extra burden of sending in the tax returns and W2s.
