All the info you need is here:
http://www.lawschool.cornell.edu/admissions/tuition/applying_for_aid.cfm

Summary:

1. Fill out FAFSA
2. Fill out NeedAccess
3. Complete Cornell Law School Financial Aid Sheet
4. Submit 2010 parent tax returns
5. Submit your 2010 tax returns

The deadline I believe is March 15 and I think that's all you need...I could be terribly mistaken though.

Even if all you want is Merit Aid, you're still required to fill all of this out I think.

Oh excellent....thank you!

Just to clarify, I spoke with admissions today and you DO have to do all of the above even if all you want is merit aid, but the deadline is based on your decision date. If you're admitted prior to March it's March 15, but if you're admitted during March or April you'll just need to do it within two weeks of your decision.

This is dumb. Even slower than last cycle. People who applied last year when I applied at least heard back around mid April. At this rate I won't even go under review until mid April.

Still complete 3/4, like that's any better than processing. Who knows, maybe the checker just didn't update

Sheey-ot, I don't rightly care if it takes forever to get a decision. What I DO worry about is them running out of seats before I even go under review! Although, I heard they're running a lot slower this year so maybe it doesn't matter

Called financial aid and found out that if you haven't received a decision yet the fin aid form isn't due on the 15th. Forgot to ask if it can be emailed, though. Also, still processing 2/17

I called them earlier and asked if it can be emailed- they said they prefer fax or regular mail

Yah, meant to post this. Fax is definitely acceptable- it sounded like she almost said preferred but that can't be right.

Also said that they will TRY to get fin. aid decisions out by the end of the month, almost certainly by April 15th, and that the committee had already started reviewing applications.

I'm starting to think Cornell just does this as YP. Wait until so many people withdraw their applications pre-decision that you've only got an entering class-size amount of people left. Brilliant.

Does anyone know if there's a way to figure out how much need aid you're likely to get based on FAFSA EFC? My EFC isn't 0 but I don't think it's super high, either.

Unless your parents make like no money you won't qualify for need based aid at Cornell.

How are they on merit though--anyone know % who gets $ and the average amount? (too lazy to look it up)

With your numbers you might get some money but I doubt it since you are below their GPA median. Cornell is stingy with $ and most people who get it are 170+/3.8+.

Their GPA median is above a 3.9?

Do they send out merit-based aid all at once?

No, unfortunately not. One caveat is that I am a multiple LSATer, which I know doesn't affect acceptances (save HYS and NYU) but may affect aid. I have a good offer from Duke, as well as very large ones from BU and UT. Still holding out for NU, Cornell, GULC, Berkeley, and Penn's offers. I think everywhere I applied is notoriously late with merit.
