I thought I saw someone with 11/06? But IRC, you are indeed the winner.bananaboat29 wrote:Congrats to everyone who is in! At this rate I should be in... right about the time I graduate with my JD from some other school.
Congrats to everyone who got their offers today!

I don't know what CCN means, but I guess that means you thought I'd get accepted? I suppose that's encouraging. Any advice on whether to submit an additional essay or anything like that?

Re: Cornell 2011 applicants
Newbie, I would definitely send an LOCI, basically articulating why you're perfect for Cornell and why Cornell is perfect for you. Other than that, I'm not sure what else you can do but wait. Sorry.

CCN = Columbia, Chicago, NYU. Yes, that does mean I thought you would get accepted.newbienew wrote:I don't know what CCN means, but I guess that means you thought I'd get accepted? I suppose that's encouraging. Any advice on whether to submit an additional essay or anything like that?
Maybe send a Cornell specific essay about why you and Cornell are a match made in heaven.

Any other 11/29 EAers still waiting to hear back? It's driving me crazy! I was hoping for today, but I guess I'll have to wait another day.

Re: Cornell 2011 applicants
Just re-read my Cornell app.
Turns out I had a spelling/grammar error on my "why cornell" essay.
On the plus side, I wrote a "why cornell" essay?

Congrats, 123xalady! My numbers are similar to yours, and I got deferred. I don't know whether I should be encouraged or discouraged by that...

Btw, you got YP'ed. Don't worry about it. You'll get into better schools (and if Cornell really is your top choice, just write them a compelling LOCI).newbienew wrote:Congrats, 123xalady! Re: Cornell 2011 applicants
Thanks for the thought, mrmangs. Cornell is my top choice, and I'll write that LOCI.
But are you SURE it was a YP situation? 3.5 is below the median at Cornell, and from what I know, it only placed me in about the 50th percentile at my college. I also have basically no softs to speak of. I wasn't overly surprised by the deferral. Care to convince me it was YP? That might make me feel better...

You're gonna have options-- I don't doubt it. No idea what Cornell's admissions people are looking for. Just keep writing those LOCIs and they'll come around!newbienew wrote:Thanks for the thought, mrmangs. Cornell is my top choice, and I'll write that LOCI.

Re: Cornell 2011 applicants
Your LSAT is considerably higher than 123xalady's (remember, even one point is a big deal) and your GPA is essentially the same (even slightly higher). If Cornell thought you'd attend, they would have admitted you. If you look back on this thread, a lot of people with good to great numbers got deferred. You're in the same boat as them: Cornell knows you'll have better options, and so they are hedging their bets. They might have admitted you if your PS and whatnot had convinced them that you were set on Cornell, but you didn't communicate that to their satisfaction and your numbers belie this possibility.newbienew wrote:Care to convince me it was YP? To think about it another way, if you had truly fucked up your application, you would have been rejected outright, not deferred. You have the numbers, so the simplest explanation (especially given the trend on admits/WL's ITT) is that you got YP'ed.
Good luck.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
