No need to apologize. I'm glad you brought it to my attention. Well I'm looking over the website and it says if you are not complete by Nov. 15th, then you are deferred to regular admissions, which I really hope did not happen. My status has said processing since 11/9. It's not incomplete though, so I'm confused. I'm going to call them when I get out of work (30 min).T6Hopeful wrote:Sorry, I'm just wondering for my own sake now since that was the 1st application I submitted, and I was hoping that slight rush wasn't for naught.

Isn't there some sort of grace period?shanshan333 wrote:No need to apologize. I'm glad you brought it to my attention. Meaning...? I mean it's 11/29 and it still says my application is processing. I hope I'm considered EA..

Re: Cornell 2011 applicants
I just did, because I did everything a little after the date. Turns out that they might consider applicants who submitted a little after the 11/1 date as EA if they can (1-3 days grace period), just depends on their load. Source: office staff.
My opinion: Let's not get our hopes up. If they are behind with processing the EA folks who got stuff in on time, I really doubt they'll find the time to help out a few other folks who were a bit late.

Re: Cornell 2011 applicants
It doesn't say anything in your status checker if you are EA? It should. They may give 1-3 days grace period but I didn't submit mine until 11/6, and got a confirmation email on 11/9. I def have to call. I'll let you guys know the verdict but the admissions woman said it would be considered EA as long as it was before Nov. 15. Otherwise, I would have submitte it 11/1.

I just went "In Review" today. How long does it usually take to get a decision? I have no chance of getting in so I don't know why I'm so nervous. Anyway I would still like to know the time frame please...

Re: Cornell 2011 applicants
I have a theory that maybe there are different people reviewing different piles of applications and that explains the absolute unpredictability of deferrals?
Also, I think their "we'll wait until February policy to review again" is pretty unfair, but I guess that's what most schools do with ED deferrals too. On the bright side it would appear that Cornell EA deferrals often result in later acceptances (unlike ED deferrals at other schools) so maybe deferral here is not the same type of deferral TLS is used to facing.
Someone did this for the Georgetown thread, so I thought it might be helpful to those waiting to have some numbers to peruse - though I don't know how helpful it'll be considering their sheer randomness.

Wait what? Are those numbers people who were deferred then accepted at GTown? If not then how does it relate?czelede wrote:I have a theory that maybe there are different people reviewing different piles of applications and that explains the absolute unpredictability of deferrals?

Sorry, these are the accepted numbers for Cornell so far via LSN (TLS may have more)...I mentioned GTown because someone compiled a running list of accepted numbers in the GTown thread so I thought it would be helpful to do one for Cornell.whymeohgodno wrote:Wait what? Re: Cornell 2011 applicants
Just from anecdotal evidence it seems that GTown is a lot friendlier to splitters once they hit 170.czelede wrote:Sorry, these are the accepted numbers for Cornell so far via LSN (TLS may have more)...I mentioned GTown because someone compiled a running list of accepted numbers in the GTown thread so I thought it would be helpful to do one for Cornell.whymeohgodno wrote:Wait what? If you're not a 170+, you're not a splitter at Georgetown... so that doesn't make sense.whymeohgodno wrote:Just from anecdotal evidence it seems that GTown is a lot friendlier to splitters once they hit 170.

Re: Cornell 2011 applicants
I meant in comparison to Cornell. People who have 3.3/170 seem to stand a much better shot at GTown than Cornell etc.eskimo wrote:If you're not a 170+, you're not a splitter at Georgetown... so that doesn't make sense.whymeohgodno wrote:Just from anecdotal evidence it seems that GTown is a lot friendlier to splitters once they hit 170.

Re: Cornell 2011 applicants
so, so far it seems like it's been 50/50 with people in the 170s and high gpa's. hard to say YP when we see 173 and 3.67's getting in.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
