I'm guessing it's random or there is some kind of ranking system that is not disclosed.

Re: Cornell 2011 applicants

Seriously Cornell....What are you doing? Haven't you learned from last year? This year, you are even slower...

Would all under review be willing to state the quartiles of the alphabet the first letter of their last name is?aaaaaah wrote:I don't think it is necessarily by date of application. I applied mid Jan and I went on reserve 4/22. Back in review 5/20.
ie
A-G
H-M
N-T
U-Z
Or even just first half or second half of alphabet....

Ocho- First, sorry to hear. Second, did you go back under review before you got the waitlist?

I haven't been checking status updates so I couldn't tell ya. Do people ever get in off of their waitlist or is it mostly people from the reserve? Sucks cause my numbers made a pretty strong candidate.

Re: Cornell 2011 applicants
This is kind of upsetting. I really don't like that they're giving some people on reserve decisions before everyone on reserve is even back in review.TheOcho wrote:Waitlisted from Reserve. PM for numbers.

Re: Cornell 2011 applicants
i'm assuming they'll fill all their immediate needs now, and then the waitlist will be used if spots open up later in the summer. there are stories of people getting off waitlists in july and august, so i'm sure it happens, but i don't know how often.TheOcho wrote:I haven't been checking status updates so I couldn't tell ya. Those of you in review from reserve: are you above LSAT median, GPA median, or both? I figure at this point they are trying to up one of them more than the other.

Re: Cornell 2011 applicants
I'm still just reserve, my gpa is average but my 171 would bump up that stat. I'm end of 3rd alphabet quartile previously posted, FWIW.

Updated to IR 5/26. 170+ splitter. I don't think the WL update is necessarily bad news here; my gut feeling is that they don't have openings in the class at this point and are deciding between WL or cut.
