Are all of you going to these things by yourself? I know not to bring parents or significant others to the actual organized campus events, but what about to travel with? My dad wants to go to Austin with me to check out the city, and I actually enjoy his company. Would it be weird to go to the campus events while he does his own thing, then meet up in the afternoon and show him a few things at the campus/law school? He is taking an interest in my future (let's just say I was the problem child by a longshot) and is curious about this adventure I am about to embark on.
My mom is going to be meeting me in Austin. I'm flying in from out of state, and she is driving down from DFW area. She's really just doing it to spend some time together, as I only see her a few times a year, but it saves me the cost of renting a car and she's splitting the hotel cost too. WINNING!

She and I both know she isn't coming to any of the events, but she can do other cool stuff in Austin Thursday and Friday when I'm doing ASW stuff, and then we are planning to have some fun Sat before I fly back home Sunday.

Got my scholarship info in the mail today. Nonresident Tuition Exemption and another $9,500 a year. It's the same $76,500 that everyone has posted on LSN. I expected it, but I am excited nonetheless!

Is UT's April 15th seat deposit binding? Can't find any text for it anywhere so I assume it's not but I wanted to be sure.

From my understanding, it is not binding. I have seen very few schools where it is binding, and I cannot actually name any off the top of my head.

That's like 26k/year, knocks the cost attendance down to 107k across all 3 years, I'd be pleased with that. I'm +1 lsat -.09 GPA to you so I'm hoping I get a similar package. If I did I'd probably be going to UT for sure, the next best off I have is UIUC which is only 17k cheaper across all 3 years.

According to LSN, it looks like these scholarships are pretty consistent. 169-170 LSAT scores have been getting the $76,500 for OOS and $28,500 for IS.

If you want you can pretend to be me. I am participating reluctantly. Why couldn't it just be a walking or bike tour, that way we wouldn't have to endure 2 hours of weird looks from the general public laughing at all the 0Ls on their futuristic unicycles.
I hope you have to wear a helmet. I BET YOU DO. Send me piczzzzzzz.

Does anyone know if Texas offers money to out of state admitted students (or in my case out of country) who would like to visit during admitted students weekend? I am going to contact the admission office soon, but I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has been offered money from the admission office before I call them. Feel free to private message me.

If you read back a couple of pages, there is a conversation about this. I, personally, received a $200 stipend. The general consensus is that $200 stipends were given out at random, and some individuals were able to procure more money. Read back over the past three or four pages of this thread and you should see it.

All I've gotten was that email that said they received the FASFA etc. I've been checking the "CASH" website and it's just been saying "your financial aid awards information is not available" or something to that effect.

Oh, merit scholarship. I have been notified that they have received my FAFSA, though.

I'll be coming into Austin for ASW.

PM me if anyone wants to split a hotel room for ASW?

I'm curious about this to. Anybody had any success this cycle? If you have details about which schools you had schollies at that Texas considered plz post here or pm me.

This is from last cycle, but UT pretty much fully matched an offer from UVA (most with merit, some with grants) for me last year. I went and talked to financial aid people when I came down for ASW, but I think either email or calling should be fine too. I would make sure you don't think any other schools are going to be coming up with money offers first, since I think UT's policy is you only have one chance to request UT match other scholarships.
