Still at 12/1. I can't believe how many people are getting waitlisted now with high #'s. Kind of freaking me out. What in the world are they doing down there?

Thanks. I'm disappointed, but at least I'm not still hanging. I'll probably write another essay and see if I get lucky.

I think you're confusing the UVA thread with the Michigan thread

You're right. They're also looking at whether you live in Virginia.

UVA is doing some interesting things with their WL. I was WL with a 173, 3.8 UGPA. I have a number of nice softs including a Master's degree and Peace Corps. Perhaps they already filled most of their out-of-state numbers and now are turning away otherwise nearly auto-admit types. I have already been admitted to similarly (and higher) ranked institutions so it is certainly a head-scratcher.

They're not doing interesting things with their waitlist; they are doing predictable things. They use the yield protect waitlist all the time. They want you to prove you're interested. The reason you were waitlisted was that your numbers were good, you had a good record, and you'd likely been accepted somewhere higher ranked- like you said. That's why it's important to do ED or a good LOCI/Why UVA for them.

UR 1/18 --> 2/8 --> 2/15
Are 3 dates typical? When do decisions usually come? (Feel like I'm being fast-tracked for rejection!)
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
