Well they waitlisted a ton of people this week and I do not think it is too much to ask for a response. Even if it is a rejection or waitlilst.

I'm probably going to Berkeley in the fall, but I'd like to at least have something finite from UVA before I commit.

I'm pretty sure if you rush them to make a decision, it will be unfavorable. Congrats on Berkeley though; that's awesome!

To clarify, I meant that because UVA seems to use their waitlist as part of a process rather than a tentative ding, they have a more complimentary letter to go with it. If it were true that there were two separate emails, which did not occur to me, it would say nothing about me; it would be a commentary on UVA.

I applied to UVA early February (I know, really late) – and I haven’t heard anything. I’m not surprised at all since I applied late, but I was wondering if anyone knows about how long it takes to get decisions and how they come (dings vs. WL vs. acceptance)—whether it’s through mail or e-mail.
Also, does anyone know about how long it takes to get a decision and when the latest we’ll hear by is? I have a couple schools that want a deposit by April 1—so I’m getting nervous I’m not going to hear back by then.

I think ding/WL are by email. They will call you about acceptance. You should probably call them and see what to do about the April 1 deadlines. 434-924-7351 is the number for the admissions office.
