It's weird how clear it is what UVA seems to be doing. Doesn't look good for semi-reverse splitters (glad I am not one).beatrock wrote:Waitlisted. 169 3.86 after fall grades were sent

I really wish I knew what made my file end up as a waitlist when so many people with similar numbers are getting offers with money. I actually really do like UVA, so I hope it is not YP. But I wonder if something else was wrong with the app.

Haha I know, looks like most people getting waitlisted have above a 3.85 but aren't quite at 170. The curse of 169 continues to plague me...bdubs wrote:It's weird how clear it is what UVA seems to be doing. My file complete, pending review decision 1/13 has changed to a file complete, pending decision 1/31. The 3 is slowly shifting left and soon it will be file complete, pending decision 3/11.

Re: UVa. Regular Decision
crickets for me since Sep. Sent an LOCI - kind of a Why UVA? and an app update combo. I should have written a Why UVA from the start. My girlfriend is likely going to grad school only an hour away from Charlottesville, so it is a legit top choice. Hopefully I survive the axe

Stress the bolded if you haven't already. There's ample reason to believe that UVA won't hesitate to accept applicants above both 75ths when informed of personal circumstances that may draw such a person to Charlottesville.slax wrote:crickets for me since Sep. Edited for inability to distinguish between the quote and pm buttos.
And for not being able to spell "buttons."

In $ negotiation mode, still waiting on financial aid offers from other schools. I don't want to get attached to any school too much now I have a big offer on the table. I will visit, then visit again with my family then decide with the money in mind.AssumptionRequired wrote:Rphilly, did you decide on UVA? or are you still considering many options?r6_philly wrote:I will unquote it.

I devoted a sizable paragraph to this. I said I'd jump at the chance to be so close and not have to sacrifice my education basically said the location would be something I'd find impossible to pass up
Sorry for typos, on my phone

Here's to hoping! Wrote a slightly ballzy "Why Virginia" essay, and gave them a longer, but tastier, PS (3 pages). Hoping the bravado (or stupidity) pays off!!!!!
