This is ridiculous. I guess soft floor for GPA at UT can't be bent even for URMs.

I'm in already w/ 3.45/174, Non-URM, OOS. I'd guess it's to do with the fact that his/her LSAC GPA is only a 3.2 (as per LSN.) That or possibly YP?

Definitely YP, with that 179 and URM.

On the other hand, my stats are barely higher than BeachedBrit's and I got held for RD. Sometimes, it's all a matter of chance.

I don't know, looking at LSN for Texas over the past few years doesn't seem to suggest that they YP at all.

Likewise, if you look at their applicant profile chart it doesn't look like Texas practices YP, or it least it hasn't in the past.

Maybe not YP in a numerical sense, but YP in a "there is no way this person is coming here" sense?

It would be refreshing to see a 179 is not enough to overcome a soft GPA wall, I feel most schools put too much emphasis on LSAT.

I am completely uninformed, but I certainly think a 179/3.2 are good enough splitter numbers for Texas. If it is a true rejection, there might be other factors involved that we don't know (yet).

But, as I mentioned, I really don't know anything beyond what I've learned from the internet haha.

+1 if you have the potential, you should have worked hard in undergrad. I agree there a circumstances where this can be overlooked, but for the most part there is no excuse for someone with a 170+ LSAT to have below a 3.3 GPA

My stance is circumstances are needed to be able to overcome/explain a low GPA, not just a high LSAT score. LSAT shows you have the potential, your high GPA you can realize it.

Still sittin' pretty at 11/19, being considered for Regular Decision. Let's hope (or rather, let me hope) that you guys haven't soaked up too much of the OOS scholarship money!

I got my scholarship info today- 9,700/year + Waiver of out of state tuition fees. Opinion: If it were between UT with this offer and UVA sticker price (in-state) which would you go with?

True, but I'm also a multiple LSAT taker (or rather, just a re-taker), and my average would banish me from CCN competitive to struggling to stay in tier 1 schools. I'd rather have your "meh" than mine!

You sound like someone who is disappointed with a 3.85/175, as if you're HYS or bust?

Just got the call from Monica Ingram! Sooo stoked. She also mentioned a scholarship. Is each scholarship amount unique?

I wish I hadn't been so shocked; I can't remember anything I said or any info she gave me.
