I applied last week, and went complete a couple days later.

I live in Houston inside the loop with my partner, and we pay $690 for a 2BR apartment that's pretty big. However, this is kind of amazing. Our apartment would be about $1100 in any other building.

If you want to live in the loop for kind of cheap, look at places in the Heights. Definitely drive around and write down numbers if you have the time because like most areas, the smaller companies have cheaper rates.

Don't commute in from the suburbs if you can help it. The traffic here is atrocious. I commute out from Montrose to Sugar Land everyday, and it takes me 15 minutes. Meanwhile, inbound traffic is at a stand still and can take more than an hour to get into the city.

I grew up in the Sugar Land area and this is definitely true. However, traffic fluctuates drastically depending on the time of day. Even 15-30 minutes can make a huge difference in how long you will be sitting in traffic. Traffic outside of rush hours isn't bad, but commuting between the southwest suburbs and the U of H area is going to be awful during both morning and afternoon rush hours. A guesstimate of what hours you'll be on campus everyday will make a difference in determining how far away it's feasible to live. Personally, I'd avoid a lot of the outer suburbs if possible, just based on the fact that there's so much more to do if you live closer to the school.

Still nothing here. I'm in state, Houston native above both 75ths and I submitted the first week of October. Guessing from LSN, I'd be shocked to hear anything earlier than mid December.

Still nothing, though I'm also not expecting anything till around the first of the year. Since I got dinged at UT, Houston and SMU have become my most likely second choices, depending on how much if any money I get from each and which city would be best for my fiancee to transfer to. I'm excited about moving, wherever I end up!

Hey everyone good luck. UH is a reach for me at 153 / 3.64. I'm contemplating whether or not to go ahead and apply ED or to just retake in June and work a year. Anyone have any thoughts on the odds I'm up against? Even better, do any current UH students know of anyone who was accepted with these numbers?

Yeah, I think January will be a big admissions month.

Sorry about the ding at UT Marion. But maybe we'll both end up at U of H in August.

Thanks. I naively had my hopes up pretty bad, so it stung a little bit, but I'm hoping it may be a blessing in disguise kind of thing. I'm tired of Austin, I've lived here for 7 years and would be happy to go somewhere else. Who knows, maybe I'll end up in California, I've applied to UC Davis, Hastings, and I'm considering applying to Irvine.

I think that's probably the right way to look at it. California is a beautiful place, even more so if you can get some scholly $$$. I think I naively have my hopes up about U of H so I may be retaking, but until they ding me my hopes are still up.

Keep me posted about your cycle though Marion, I hope it works out the way you want it to.

Does anyone know when ED admissions start to roll out? It says something on their site about December 15 but I can't really tell.

In review, too! According to LSN, they sent out decisions around Dec. 14th last year, so it shouldn't be too long of a wait.

I think wayne and some of the bigger houston rap names have attended UH at one time or another, though to the best of my knowledge none of them received a degree.

Yeah I remember that. I guess he left when he realized it was more fun to get high and profit.
