I applied to U of H expecting to be denied by now. Has anyone been denied yet or are they just admitting people right now?

I don't want to get too excited because my lsat score is way below median.

according to LSN, one person got denied into the PT program with a 157/3.17. so I'm sure they are rejecting a few people. They are probably taking more time to look at your application, which is never a bad thing! I think they'll come out with more decisions late jan/early feb... but that's just speculation.

Current Status: Decision Rendered- Admitted
Current Status Date: 1/11/2011

Just for everyone's info... I applied 11/02, "under review" date changed twice. Scored a 166 on the December LSAT, so I'm sure that helped. Hopefully it will help pay the tuition...
Best of luck to everyone!

Wow, me too! I had UH hold my file until the December LSAT, and no other school has even put my application under review yet. And here UH is, already admitting me. They're on the f'n ball.

Having applied last year with a bad LSAT and out-of-state residency has GOT to be slowing me down. I've been under review for soooo long now.

It took a little more than three weeks for me. I think that they do them in batches though (complete speculation), and that your individual waiting time may be random and based simply upon the next time they begin reviewing the next group.

I know this has been asked before but I did not see an answer, my apologies if I overlooked it. Does anyone know when we can expect scholarship information to be sent out? This is, of course, assuming it has not already been sent out and I was simply out of luck...

How many of you applying went to UH for undergrad? Do you think it makes any difference?

Also, those of you that got admitted, what was your GPA?

I don't have a stellar GPA but I am hoping to go above 160+ on the LSAT along with some good Recommendation letters...taking the Feb lsat...

This is why I am probably going to stay in Texas http://www.window.state.tx.us/taxbud/bre2012/96-402_BRE_2012-13.pdf.

UHLC: "Decision Rendered-Admitted"! It says they mailed my letter on 1/14; maybe I'll get it this week.

Heard back from them and Baylor so far.

I went to UH undergrad, and admissions counselors I've spoken to do like seeing applicants from their own school. I don't think it's a huge factor by any means, but it may be the tiebreaker between two kids with the same numbers. They probably see these people as more likely/excited to attend.

Also, I had a 3.69 and a 166. Best of luck.

Worth is obviously very subjective, but I think it's reasonable if you don't mind staying in Houston. It's the best law school in a large metropolitan city, and Houston has a pretty bustling legal market.

From what I've observed living here, there are enough well-paying jobs that even people from 4th tier schools like South Texas and St. Mary's are reasonably competitive. Do well and you'll be OK.

Yeah, UH is my top choice. Even 15k over three years would be awesome.

I guess I am just totally bugged out about the 25% increase. I thought two or three years ago tuition was 1.6 stacks of high society - so the 20k, then 26k jumps bother me while their ranking continues to drop.

Still, I live in Houston, and I know the economy here is good and the competition isn't as stiff fighting for the crumbs that fall from UT's table.
