In case this is relevant to anyone, my friend got the admit call on Monday but had to turn it down because SLS wouldn't let her defer.

Wow, straight admit or WL-admit? Seems strange they wouldn't let her defer if straight admit and that they processed the request that quickly.

+1 on every single account.

I didn't plan on riding it until I saw the words SLS in cardinal.

An answer to this question would be neat. :)

My DLS from Monday was a waitlist. Will not be staying on. Good luck to everyone riding it out!

SLS definitely allows deferrals for almost anything.
I imagine backtotheoldhouse's friend either was WL/admit (which would be unsual, since it's so early) or his/her friend wanted to take a year off to just hang out? And in that case, no one would grant that deferral.
.. other option, bttoh's friend isn't be quite truthful :)

I agree. I have never heard of SLS declining a sincere deferral request.

Nope, she was a straight admit. No waitlist. It makes sense though. Any recent admits have to be the very last seats available. She says SLS wouldn't allow her a deferral because it's so late in the cycle. Of course, I can't prove that she's being truthful.

I asked yesterday if I could still defer and they said yes... so....

Oh wow. Would it make a difference if she had to ask for two years (she's doing consulting), or maybe I should just stop believing what she says...

Maybe... I think it might be a little harder to get two years off. I'm going with that :) Unless her name is Caroline Bingley, and then she is not to be trusted.

I'm incredibly excited to join those attending SLS next fall, and I wish the best to those on the WL; I hope I see you next fall as well. TLS has been great and I am thankful for all the great friendships it has helped me form. This seems like a good place and time to end the ride. Later-

They say they can't give you any info on your placement on the WL or an idea of when you might get off. Only other important info is a form to fill out that says you want to stay on the WL. I snail mailed mine but you could probably scan and fax it. It says return by May 6 though so you may want to call them.

FYI -- my waitlist letter specified a different "return by" date (16th or 18th I believe, I don't have it in front of me right now), so you may have a little more breathing room. I was part of the last DLS wave.
