However much we like to joke about it, dragging this on is psychologically draining (if you're as neurotic as me anyway).

PS: Don't yell at me, neon. I know I'm being naughty by posting this

But I agree with you on the draining part. Too bad I would go at almost anytime in cycle.

The only instance I can see myself doing this is if I was forced under ED/contractual obligation.

This is credited to some extent. For me, another school has always been my top choice from the start, and I really couldn't see myself going to SLS over it. I think withdrawing when you know for sure you won't attend a school is helpful to both the school and other applicants who are waiting to hear. I guess in the end it's a personal choice. Good luck to everyone still alive!

Pretty sure. Not 100% if I checked yesterday, but I think I did. It might have been a Monday DLS.

I feel like I've gotten a decision -- borderline by SLS's idiosyncratic metrics. Maybe yes, maybe no, more likely than not waitlist purgatory. Frankly, I don't care. I've already agonized over two perfectly good options (HLS vs a full ride at one of the NY schools - and since I want to be in the northeast for various reasons, these both trumped being at Stanford for me) and now I just want closure.
With my cycle now over I feel a serenity that has eluded me for months.

And the competition for the remaining seats is now that much smaller :)

My logic: if you absolutely know you will not be attending a school, you should withdraw. Staying on for the sole purpose of satisfying curiosity / ego is selfish because it has the potential to negatively impact someone who wants to attend of a spot in the class.

This is a purely moral argument, and one could certainly counter that an applicant has earned the right to do whatever they please (their academic performance is what's keeping them in the game, they paid for the application and should be allowed see it through to completion, etc).

All that being said, I will never quit you, Stanford. :)

STANFORD! I WILL NEVER GIVE UP HOPE!

Still alive. It seems I am in waitlist purgatory. Hopefully?

DLS this afternoon. UR 12/17. Annoyed I had to wait this long for the less than desired outcome, but relieved to finally have all the information I need to make a final decision.

Long-time lurker on this board -- even though I never chimed in, you guys provided a ton of moral support! GL!

Still alive here as well. I'd be shocked if I get anything but rejected, so I guess I should be comforted that it's taking them this long (11/24). At this point, though, I just want to know (ok, well that's not entirely true, not they can take as long as they want as long as they accept me...)

So I'm thinking about withdrawing just because of the hastle an acceptance would cause me at this point if I somehow magically got in. I'm in at Chicago and the fiancé got into teach for America in Chicago, meaning she has a guaranteed job there that can lead to a lot of great career options down the road. If I went to Stanford she would have to turn that down and try to find a teaching job in California.

Also, first choice career is JAG (fully covered by chicagos lrap) and second choice is firm practice in Florida. Although a clerkship would be pretty cool, and I know stanford wins hands down.

Would Stanford even be worth it for me? Advice of fellow pending folks would be appreciated.

Well, I guess I mean nothing for me! This wait is really spoiling my last few weeks of college. :(

it's a combination of:
1) the herd thinning out
2) the remaining get worked up by desperation
3) senior theses done!

I haven't taken most of my work seriously since senior year began.

+1. It doesn't help that my faculty adviser is awesomely lax. Deadlines are either extremely vague or nonexistent.
